Goldie Hawn jokes about health condition as Andrew Garfield comes to her aid at the Oscars
At the recent Oscars event, renowned actress Goldie Hawn humorously mentioned dealing with a health issue while presenting an award alongside Andrew Garfield.
Goldie Hawn, famous for “Death Becomes Her,” “The First Wives Club,” and more recently, the “Christmas Chronicles” duology, teamed up with “Spider-Man” and “We Live in Time” actor Andrew Garfield to reveal the Animated Feature Film winner on stage.
As Hawn began reading from the teleprompter, she requested Garfield to step in and said playfully, “Alright, love. Could you read that for me? I’m having trouble with this text.
She declared, “I’m totally blind, and I can confirm it because I have cataracts, which cloud my eyes’ lenses.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the scene appeared to be a pre-planned gag, and upon their return to announce the Animated Short Film award, she flawlessly delivered her lines from the teleprompter.
It remains uncertain if Hawn genuinely experiences vision issues or not, as her representatives have yet to respond to our inquiry from Digital Spy.
Prior to developing cataracts, Garfield expressed a heartfelt homage towards Hawn, acknowledging that his mother, who passed away in 2019, had been a devoted fan of hers earlier on.
He expressed, “During my mother’s lifetime, there was an individual who brought her the greatest happiness and peace. Tonight, I am incredibly fortunate because I have the opportunity to express my gratitude directly to that person. That special someone is Goldie Hawn.
Onstage, Hawn seemed to display some visible emotion, at which point Garfield comforted her by holding her hand and said, “You’ve provided us with movies filled with joy. You’ve uplifted our hearts and repeatedly made us believe that everything was in order.
She thanked him and said his tribute “really touches me”.
