There are many reasons why music is considered the greatest art form. It’s incredibly diverse in sound, and it has the power to evoke a wide range of emotions – from happiness to sadness, and everything in between. What’s more, music enhances other art forms, making them even more impactful.
As a huge fan of TV, movies, and streaming, I honestly can’t imagine them without music! It just makes everything so much better. Think about it – how strange would a show or film be if it was totally silent? The music isn’t always something you consciously notice, but it’s definitely working hard to create the right feeling for each scene.
The foreign press revealed the 2026 Golden Globe nominations on Monday, and here’s a look at the songs and scores that made the list.

It’s possible the two songs from Wicked: For Good will divide the votes, potentially allowing someone else to win. But it’s rare to see such a diverse group of nominees – both Miley Cyrus and Nick Cave are up for the award! Thankfully, the international voters seem to have excellent taste.

Hans Zimmer has been nominated for a Golden Globe 16 times, but has only won three. It would be particularly noteworthy if Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead won for composing the music for the film expected to win Best Picture at the Oscars – he’s certainly deserving of the award.
