Gold Logie nominee Poh Ling Yeow reveals the ‘worst’ part about attending the exclusive award show: ‘Really hard’
Poh Ling Yeow has opened up about the ‘worst’ part of attending TV’s annual night-of-nights.
On Saturdays, TV Tonight reported that, contrary to appearances, the prestigious Gold Logie event, which the renowned MasterChef star (age 51), nominated for this year, is not always as glamorous as it might seem.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must confess that despite rubbing elbows with Australia’s most illustrious television personalities, the famed culinary whiz in me finds myself grappling with the art of donning high heels and navigating red carpet conversations.
The heels are the worst thing and I do find the red carpet really hard,’ she said.

Later on, it was disclosed that the Gold Logie nominees have been privately informed about their nominations several weeks prior, even though the public spectacle is built around a live declaration.
Last month, on The Project, the cherished cooking icon shared that she learned about her Emmy-like Gold Logie nomination in May and had to hide this exciting news from everyone.
At that moment, Sarah Harris playfully hinted about the significant Logie nomination for Gold, then inquired about how Poh learned of it.
‘Ah, well, I got, I found out actually about three weeks ago,’ she said.
I found myself in a situation where I had to remain silent about it, which proved challenging given my close relationships. However, the revelation left me quite taken aback.
During a break after shooting an episode of Have You Been Paying Attention?, Poh was approached privately by a representative from Network Ten.
She mentioned that she had recently participated in ‘Have You Been Paying Attention?’ and then a Channel Ten representative approached her discreetly, saying, “I have a small task regarding our office administration to attend to,” which she shared.
As I mingled among the hilarious company of comedians, one of them casually suggested, “Why don’t you take a moment to relax in the hallway for a spell.
In the boardroom, she invited me to sit and began with, “So…” At this point, I assumed she might be departing or discussing something personal since I hold her in high regard.
She said, ‘Oh, it seems you’ve been nominated for…’ and I was utterly astonished. I simply couldn’t fathom it.
‘Yeah. I was speechless. I just… yeah. I’m still feeling a little bit odd about it.’
When asked if it had sunk in, Poh replied: ‘Can’t… I can’t. It’s hard to process.’
Fans were taken aback when she openly disclosed that Logie nominees are typically made aware of their nominations several weeks prior to the public announcement during the annual event, marking a rare instance where a TV personality has gone public with such information.
In the year 2023, Poh made her debut on the MasterChef judging panel, captivating viewers with her charm, wit, and straightforward culinary style.
The news emerged a few days following the disclosure by Daily Mail Australia that Poh will rejoin MasterChef in 2026, thus quelling rumors suggesting her departure was imminent.
The representative for the well-known chef unequivocally dismissed the allegations, stating: “The rumors are unfounded. Poh is truly enjoying her stint on MasterChef and believes she has finally discovered where she belongs.
Subsequently, when New Idea released an article indicating that Poh might depart from the show, it led the executive team to discreetly search for a fresh judge to work alongside Andy Allen, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli on the judging panel.
Julie Goodwin, the winner of the inaugural season of MasterChef against Poh in 2009, was one of the proposed replacements.
