This majestic palace, nestled on the Nerang River and boasting an impressive array of amenities, from a wellness center to a tennis court, was once the crown jewel of the Gold Coast’s real estate scene.

The luxurious waterfront property known as ‘Bartinon’ with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms failed to reach its asking price of $17 million at auction.
Nestled in affluent Sorento, this opulent mansion frequently played host to an illustrious list of high-profile visitors, among them Whitney Houston.
Built in the 1980s, this property was famously known as the most expensive ever constructed along the Gold Coast, according to a report by The Courier Mail on Wednesday.
The original owners, Sir Justin Hickey (a well-known businessman) and his spouse, Lady Barbara Hickey, gained a notable reputation for hosting grand social events on their estate.
As per the report, only six parties placed bids on the spectacular spread that previously changed hands for $7.22 million back in 2014.
Located near the city center along the Nerang River, this sprawling 6,500 square meter property takes inspiration from the Mediterranean and boasts an entire section devoted to a wellness center.
Other highlights include a games room, three bars, and a master retreat.
There’s also a pool, tennis court and a garage that can accommodate up to eight cars.
It also has a boat ramp, and shed and a private pontoon.
The house showcases luxurious details such as Italian marble and granite, while its structure is made from sandstone, giving it a resort-like ambiance.
A dramatic sweeping double stair case with balcony welcomes guests at the entrance.
The mansion also boasts over-sized living areas, Dutch hood awnings, arched black-frame windows.
Additional amenities encompass floor-to-ceiling French doors, spacious lush outdoor areas, and a covered leisure zone equipped with a built-in barbecue grill.
Another highlight is a formal living area with sunken lounge and wood fireplace.
Additionally, you’ll find a cellar, an infrared sauna, and a marble bathtub in this setting. Each bedroom comes equipped with a wraparound balcony as well.
The property records show that the house, constructed in the 1980s, has been sold on five different occasions.
Initially, it was purchased for a price of $4.25 million back in 2001. Later on, in the year 2006, it was resold at $6.665 million. In the following years, it changed hands again in 2009, fetching $8 million. However, its value decreased for its sale in 2014.
