Going live in 2025? From Oasis and ELO to Kylie and Coldplay…ADRIAN THRILLS picks out which gigs YOU should be flocking to next year
As a seasoned music enthusiast who has attended countless concerts and festivals spanning decades, I must say that this lineup is nothing short of breathtaking! From the pop sensations to the soul legends, there’s something for everyone.
2025 promises to be an outstanding year for live concerts, with Oasis making a comeback and artists like Dua Lipa and Lana Del Rey taking the stage at stadiums. Here are some concert dates that The Mail’s music critic suggests marking on your calendar!
WONDERWALLERS
In much the same vein as Taylor Swift’s Eras tour was the unmissable spectacle of 2024, so the comeback of Oasis is expected to be the hottest ticket for live performances in the following year.
‘With the stars in perfect alignment, the long-awaited moment has finally arrived,’ the band declared as they unveiled a lineup of UK stadium shows in August. However, the excitement was dampened when ticket sales were met with controversy over ‘dynamic pricing.’
The furore should have subsided by the time the group take to the stage at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff, on July 4.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but feel electrified by the impending excitement! Liam Gallagher, with his magnetic stage presence, is undeniably one of the most captivating frontmen of our generation. If the brothers Gallagher can manage to keep their sparks in check, these coming weeks are sure to be a whirlwind of raw energy for Britpop enthusiasts like myself!
All dates are already sold out, but there may be a few resales through official agents (oasisinet.com).
POP DIVAS
Previously, stadium concerts were primarily associated with rock bands and boy groups. However, the Eras tour has opened up this opportunity, and now younger female artists are also taking part. Beginning on June 20, Dua Lipa will kick off her Radical Optimism world tour in the UK at Wembley Stadium for two nights, followed by another two shows at Anfield in Liverpool.
Lana Del Rey is also hitting the biggest stages. After opening her tour at Cardiff’s Principality
On the 23rd of June, she plans to visit Hampden Park in Glasgow, Wembley, and Anfield. Since she released “You’ll Never Walk Alone” as a 7-inch single in 2020, she might perform this famous Liverpool FC anthem live at Merseyside (available for purchase on livenation.co.uk).
Besides Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo, there are other major pop tours taking place in 2025. Sabrina Carpenter, known for her hit single Espresso from 2024, kicks off her Short n’ Sweet tour with two concerts at Dublin’s 3Arena on March 3 and 4.
Rodrigo’s Guts tour will continue with the California artist performing at Marlay Park, Dublin on June 24, followed by a show at BST Hyde Park, London on June 27. Additionally, there are two concerts scheduled at Co-op Live, Manchester on June 30 and July 1. Tickets for all shows can be purchased through ticketmaster.co.uk.
Billie Eilish is also present, kicking off at the OVO Hydro, Glasgow on July 7, while Charli XCX aims to initiate another ‘Brat summer’ by curating and headlining her own concert series at the Lido Festival in London.
Victoria Park on June 14 (both ticketmaster.co.uk).
GLITTERBALLERS
In 2018, Kylie Minogue foresaw the trend of pop-country fusion in her album Golden. Fast forward to 2023 and subsequent release of Tension and Tension II, she has returned to the disco genre, achieving a Top Ten single with Padam Padam.
The most popular female performer of Pop music is going on a big tour starting at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on May 16, according to axs.com.
On the very same night, Scissor Sisters make a comeback, although this time without their initial shared lead vocalist Ana Matronic. They kick off their reunion concert series at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. (gigs and events)
At the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will undoubtedly add elegance and joy to the concert stage on May 22, as she kicks off her tour (available for ticket purchase on Ticketmaster.co.uk).
BIG HITTERS
Bruce Springsteen brings his swashbuckling E Street Band
For the third consecutive year, a tour by an artist will commence in the UK, starting with three performances at Co-op Live, Manchester, from May 14th. This is followed by two nights at Anfield, Liverpool in June. Meanwhile, Robbie Williams returns to stadiums, launching what he terms his ‘most daring tour yet’ at Murrayfield, Edinburgh on May 31st (information from livenation.co.uk and axs.com).
Murrayfield serves as the launching pad for Billy Joel, who will perform his initial concert in Edinburgh, Scotland after a 46-year absence on June 7th. Later, he’ll make his way to Anfield on June 21st. (Source: axs.com)
Jeff Lynne’s ELO kicks off their tour at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on July 5th and 6th, as per livenation.co.uk, while Coldplay is scheduled to play two shows at Craven Park in Hull from August 18th, followed by an impressive ten-night stint at Wembley Stadium, as mentioned on coldplay.com.
FESTIVAL PLEASERS
Besides naming Rod Stewart as its Sunday evening icon, Glastonbury Festival hasn’t revealed any other acts so far. On the contrary, other festivals have already announced big headliners for their events.
Standout among them all is Chappell Roan, a notable figure in pop music hailing from Missouri, who has been confirmed to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festival in August (as announced on readingandleeds festival.com).
In contrast, Sting, Fatboy Slim, and Snow Patrol will perform at Latitude Festival in Suffolk during July (latitudefestival.com), whereas The Prodigy and Courteeners are set to appear at Kendal Calling, which takes place in the Lake District from July 31 to August 3 (kendalcalling.co.uk).
In June and July, BST (British Summer Time) once again graces London’s Hyde Park, featuring artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Noah Kahan, and Zach Bryan as headliners, according to bst-hydepark.com.
SOUL LEGENDS
Two legendary musicians are embarking on tours: Lionel Richie, who was a Glastonbury mainstay in 2015, kicks off his “Say Hello To The Hits” tour at the SSE Arena in Belfast on May 31 (ticketmaster.co.uk). Meanwhile, Smokey Robinson, a Motown icon, is making his return after a 15-year absence, starting his performances at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow on July 3, and playing at the Love Supreme festival in East Sussex on July 5 (axs.com).
ROCK GODS
For enthusiasts of loud guitars, there’s a wealth of options available. Led by vocalist Axl Rose and guitarist Slash from England, Guns N’ Roses brought freshness to the hard rock scene with classics like Sweet Child O’ Mine and Paradise City in the 80s. Their tour includes performances at Villa Park, Birmingham on June 23rd, followed by Wembley Stadium on the 26th of the same month.
Additionally, there’s an upcoming concert at Wembley scheduled for Linkin Park. On June 28th, the dynamic duo of Emily Armstrong and Mike Shinoda, known for their rap-rock style, will take the stage at the stadium.
On February 28, Lenny Kravitz performs a unique concert at the Wembley Arena, blending genres of rock, soul, and funk, while Judas Priest and Alice Cooper share the stage for a joint headline event at The O2, London on July 25 – both shows can be found on livenation.co.uk.
