Amy Tapper, known from the TV show Gogglebox, revealed her stunning transformation on Wednesday, having lost eight stone with the help of the medication Mounjaro.
As someone who’s always been about feeling your best, I’m sharing a little of my journey! I’ve been working on my health and fitness, and with a bit of help from medication and consistent exercise, I’ve gone from a size 26 to an 18. I was feeling good the other day and snapped a quick selfie while I was out and about – just wanted to share a little progress!
She showed off her amazing weight loss along with a new look: straight hair instead of her typical curls, and a stylish nose stud.
Amy jokingly wrote ‘Oh hey, me again!’ in a post while out running errands, shielding her eyes with dark sunglasses while driving.
At just 13 years old, she began appearing on the show Gogglebox alongside her family: her mother Nikki, father Jonathan, and brother Josh, who is 27.
Amy recently shared that she was prescribed a weight loss injection around the time she was considering gastric bypass surgery.
I’ve been following Amy’s journey for a while now, and while I’m so incredibly proud of everything she’s achieved with her weight loss, she’s been really open about the fact that it’s left her with some excess skin. She’s mentioned she’s considering surgery to address it, and honestly, I completely support her decision – she deserves to feel amazing inside and out!
She told the Daily Mail that losing a significant amount of weight – eight stone, with more to go – means there’s excess skin that won’t go away with exercise alone. It’s an unavoidable consequence of such substantial weight loss.
‘It’s not possible, you know? It’s stones and stones of fat and it’s now just skin.
I’ve been told I’ll likely need surgery on my arms and stomach eventually, but thankfully, my legs seem to be doing alright. It’s a relief to have at least that part working well!
She jokingly added: ‘These little side bad boys are really toning up.’
The TV personality, who became famous at age 13, is being criticized online for allegedly using weight loss injections to ‘cheat’ at losing weight. However, she maintains that she’s been consistently exercising.
It has also helped her try and tone some of the loose skin on her body.
I’ve been working with my personal trainer for five years now, and honestly, it’s become a cornerstone of my well-being. I already enjoyed going to the gym, but it’s become even more important, especially combined with using Mounjaro. It really makes a huge difference to my mental state each week.
Amy has been taking a 15mg weekly dose since February, which she worked her way up to from 2.5mg.
She lost five pounds in just one week while using the medication, and after six months, she had lost a total of four stone.
I’m still focusing on healthy eating and exercise, but I’m combining it with weight loss medication, and the combination is working really well for me.
Amy is working with the online pharmacy Chemist4U to take back the phrase ‘eat less, move more.’ This comes after a recent study found that 70% of people taking medication for weight loss feel they are judged for using it.
DJ Fat Tony created a new house music track, appropriately titled ‘Already Doing It,’ for the campaign, and Amy appears in the accompanying music video.
Amy has been publicly documenting her weight loss journey, and many of her followers have praised her as inspiring. However, she’s also received negative comments and online harassment because of it.
Sadly, the scrutiny has caused considerable damage to Amy’s mental health.
During a recent interview on Good Morning Britain, she shared, with emotion, that she considers herself strong and capable of handling criticism, even being self-critical herself.
Of course this impacts me. I’m only human, and while I can be strong and confident, after putting in so much effort, I can’t help but find the humor in it all.
It’s really upsetting when online trolls attack, because it just messes with your head and steals your peace of mind. And honestly, the constant ‘eat less, move more’ comments? They feel like a deliberate insult, not helpful advice.
If you’re combining exercise with weight loss medication, it’s a really effective approach, so I’m not sure what the concern is.
She urged others not to place too much power in the opinion of others.
‘I think you’re doomed if you do and doomed if you don’t so why not just do it?’ she concluded.
Chemist4U has started a big campaign to fight bullying. They’ve teamed up with the National Bullying Helpline, DJ Fat Tony, and Gogglebox star Amy Tapper, and are using the phrase ‘eat less, move more’ in a positive way to challenge bullying.
