Gogglebox Star’s Shocking Vision Loss: Undetected Brain Bleed Nightmare

A celebrity from the show “Gogglebox” recently disclosed a distressing episode in her life following vision impairment and severe memory lapses, which were eventually diagnosed as an unnoticed, untreatable cerebral hemorrhage.

Elaine Cooper’s life flashed before her eyes when she suddenly lost total vision while driving.

She’d been having regular spells of forgetfulness, attributing it mainly to fatigue and the natural process of aging.

The former Channel 4 star, 56, tried to carry on as normal, but then her life was on the line.

It appears she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke 10 weeks ago, which resulted in a brain hemorrhage with no available treatments or cures.

The retired music teacher from the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, shared that it was challenging for him to understand and interpret the things happening in his environment, as he conveyed to NeedToKnow.

Elaine expressed that she was utterly stunned and deeply saddened when they informed her that a portion of her brain had suffered permanent damage.

Consequently, with no options available for change, I became who you see now, and initially, I found it challenging, struggling to recognize my own identity.

‘But I knew I had to keep going and try to make the best of a bad situation.’

Elaine says when her vision returned, everything was blurry.

After making it back home, a severe headache suddenly hit her, not causing immediate concern. However, things escalated when she started to forget the names of her friends.

She mentioned that she had planned to have lunch with a group of friends. Upon entering the café, one of her friends arrived, and she gave her a long, intense look.

It struck me later on that I didn’t remember who she was. Previously, I also struggled to recall how to pump gas into my car.

‘A man had to come over and help. I looked so stupid when he easily lifted off the cap.’

I exclaimed, “Each day felt like a struggle, forgetting even the most basic skills – I honestly feared I was slipping away, losing my very sanity.

In April 2024, after undergoing both a CT scan and an MRI, Elaine’s diagnosis was officially confirmed during seasons 22 and 23 of the Channel 4 show.

Ever since then, the impact of the stroke has progressed and grown more severe. As a result, she’s had to relinquish driving, her employment, and spends most of her time at home without going out much.

In my personal experience, I’m grappling with an overwhelming exhaustion that leaves me drained to the core. Additionally, I’ve been struggling with a troublesome issue of double vision and a noticeable weakness on my left side.

The experience has left an immense mark on me. It’s necessitated adjustments, as I now rely on a wheelchair for travel beyond short distances.

However, as time went by, I picked up various methods to deal with my issues effectively. Additionally, I’ve managed to get back to enjoying some concerts once more!

I undergo routine MRI scans and visit a rehabilitation center daily, which has proven to be a significant milestone in my recovery process.

If I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to go there, it’s hard for me to imagine how my current state of well-being would be.

She mentioned: “I reside in a countryside location, which left me feeling quite secluded, and the entire situation was rather intimidating.

Instead of depending on others for minor tasks, I find it challenging, yet acceptance seems to be the greatest hurdle. Despite feeling scared, I am gradually regaining my old self in a new form.
