As an enthusiastic admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I recently saw a post on X (previously known as Twitter) from the authentic Japanese Godzilla account. They’re on the lookout for additional acting talents for a movie, tentatively titled “Super Blockbuster Monster Movie,” directed by the esteemed Takashi Yamazaki!
At the San Diego Comic-Con event, it was revealed during the Godzilla at 70: Seven Decades of the King of Monsters panel that production on the sequel to Godzilla Minus One will start on August 30, 2025. It’s reasonable to expect that this movie will hit theaters in 2026.
After the acclaimed release of Godzilla Minus One, fans have been anxiously anticipating its sequel. During his speech at the Oscars in 2024 upon being nominated, Yamazaki expressed his emotions: “Being from Hollywood seemed almost unattainable to us. The instant we were nominated, it felt like Rocky Balboa being welcomed into the ring as equals by our toughest opponents – a feat that was already extraordinary. Yet here we are!
Discussing the impact of the movie off-stage, Yamazaki commented, “Godzilla has really opened up a lot of possibilities for us with this project. I’m not sure where these opportunities might take us, but I don’t want to miss out on any chance that comes our way.” (via The Hollywood Reporter)
