GodLike Esports halts Call of Duty: Mobile operations citing lack of support from Activision

Story Highlights

  • GodLike Esports and S8UL Esports failed to send their entire roster to CODM World Championship 2025 Finals in Poland due to visa issues.
  • GodLike Esports Co-owner Amar Chandgude announced that they will be halting operations in CODM Esports until further notice.
  • Remaining players from S8UL and GodLike Esports have formed a new team named Newgen Ninjas to play as a new contender.

GodLike Esports, a leading esports organization in India and a major player in Call of Duty: Mobile esports, has recently led to speculation they might be leaving the CODM esports scene, following a series of events.

As a longtime gamer, I was shocked to hear the recent news about one of the most dominant teams lately. It’s really shaken up the Indian gaming community, and honestly, the whole global scene. I’m going to break down exactly what happened, from the beginning, so you can understand how things unfolded.

CODM World Championship 2025 Finals: Where it all started

The Call of Duty Mobile World Championship 2025 Grand Finals will be held in Katowice, Poland, from November 7th to 9th. This year, two of India’s leading esports teams, S8UL Esports and GodLike Esports, were scheduled to compete in the live finals.

I was so excited for GodLike and S8UL to compete, but right before they were supposed to leave, some really awful news broke. Apparently, three players from GodLike didn’t get their visas, and the same thing happened to S8UL – two of their players were denied visas too! It was heartbreaking to see them post on social media saying they wouldn’t be able to make it to the finals because of all the visa trouble. It’s just a huge bummer for everyone.

Immediately following the announcement, Amar Chandgude, co-owner of GodLike Esports, announced on his live stream that they are temporarily stopping all Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) activities, with no set date for their return. He explained this decision was largely due to insufficient support and cooperation from both Activision and the tournament organizer, ESL.

Indian esports organizations have consistently struggled to obtain visas for their players to compete in international championship finals. This problem isn’t new – it’s happened repeatedly across different games. However, it seems to be a particularly ongoing issue for Call of Duty: Mobile, mirroring difficulties experienced in previous years.

As a huge fan, it’s so frustrating to see how things are going. The players and team managers have repeatedly reached out to the government for help, but nothing’s changed. It’s not just happening in India either – it’s a widespread problem. In fact, over 15 players from different teams have already decided to quit playing altogether! It’s pretty clear the game’s publisher and tournament organizers have really dropped the ball here, and it’s driving people away from the game we all love.

A collab where the Gods have merged their Souls: A treat for the fans

Man, after all the drama, the two Indian esports groups only had 5 players total! That wasn’t nearly enough to field separate teams for each org. But, surprisingly, they decided to combine forces and make one awesome team representing both of them. The fans were pretty shocked, but it actually worked out!

On November 5th, 2025, Call of Duty: Mobile announced that GodLike Esports and S8UL are joining forces to create a new team called Newgen Ninjas. The team will consist of three players from S8UL and two from GodLike. Here’s the player roster for Newgen Ninjas:

  • GodL VipeR
  • GodL Warden
  • S8UL Jezz
  • S8UL Frann
  • S8UL Marvel

This marks the first time ever that GodLike Esports and S8UL Esports will join forces in an esports competition. Fans of both teams, and even those without a favorite, are incredibly excited to cheer on the newly formed team, ‘Newgen Ninjas,’ as they represent India!

Because of the merger, Animus, the next highest-ranked EU team, will take the open spot. Additionally, Stand Point Gaming from China was unable to get visas, so they’ve been replaced by OUG, the fifth-ranked Chinese team.
