Goal songs for each NHL team are a mixed bag of oddness

Anyone who’s been to an NHL game knows music plays a huge role in keeping the crowd engaged and excited. While music is common at all sports events, the atmosphere at an NHL game is truly unique.

The game is quick and exciting, so the music played when the home team scores is usually upbeat and energetic. It makes sense – it’s a moment to celebrate! But choosing the perfect song to match a goal is key.

I love how teams use music to get the crowd going, and a lot of them go with local artists, which is awesome. When it comes to Seattle, you instantly think of Nirvana, right? So it totally made sense when the Kraken scored and a Nirvana song blasted through the arena! They picked “Lithium,” and honestly, it was a perfect choice – it really got everyone pumped up!

Similarly, the Utah Mammoth team chose a song by the band Used, who are also from Utah. Dallas also incorporated music, using a Pantera song, but it feels like a predictable choice.

Lots of teams have official songs, but they often feel forced. The truly great ones are memorable and keep fans energized long after the action on the field. Here’s a look at the songs each team uses.

  • Anaheim Ducks – “Coming for You” (The Offspring)
  • Boston Bruins – “Kernkraft 400” (Zombie Nation)
