GMB’s Kate Garraway announces exciting career news
As a long-time viewer and admirer of Kate Garraway, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions seeing her career thrive amidst such personal struggles. Her resilience is nothing short of inspiring. She’s like a phoenix, rising from the ashes stronger than ever before.
Good Morning Britain‘s Kate Garraway has announced some exciting new career news.
This week on Instagram, the presenter posted a video showing the exact instant her agent presented her with a fresh contract from Smooth Radio, ensuring she will maintain her 10am to 1pm timeframe with the station for an additional two years.
She’s thrilled to announce that she’ll continue our chat and share great tunes each morning from 10 to 1, thanks to her NEW RADIO CONTRACT with @smooth radio! Can’t wait to connect again tomorrow at 10 a.m.!
The video shows Kate, who has hosted the show since 2014, signing the contract, before telling viewers: “You’re stuck with me now for another two years. Thank you for listening!”
This year, unfortunately, Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, lost his life following a prolonged struggle with critical health issues stemming from COVID-19.
20 years of marriage for the TV personality was celebrated in September, with a heartfelt video shared expressing nostalgia about past moments and encouraging viewers to cast their vote for “Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story” in the Authored Documentary category at the National Television Awards.
She expressed, on this day being our wedding anniversary, I find myself overwhelmed with emotions yet deeply grateful for all the ways Derek has enriched my life.
Embracing my sorrow by rereading his old letters and watching Derek’s story documentary. This helps me recall his relentless struggle to regain a part of his life, as well as his efforts towards change for others.
After Derek passed away, Kate shared that she is now responsible for covering the substantial medical bills from his 24/7 care, which she estimates could amount to as much as £800,000, since he was ineligible for covered care.
