Glenn Close reveals who suggested her nude scene at age 78

Glenn Close is baring it all — literally — at age 78.

The acclaimed actress discussed filming a nude scene in her 2024 film, The Summer Book, offering a glimpse of the experience.

The scene, inspired by a story from Tove Jansson, features actress Close as Grandmother, who is seen walking by herself in the woods.

On any hesitation about going nude, she recently told AARP, ‘It was my idea.’

It seemed like the kind of thing she’d only do in private. People in Finland are generally more comfortable with nudity than we are.

She added, ‘I didn’t want to put my clothes back on. It felt so good.’

This isn’t Close’s first time pushing boundaries on-screen.

Back in 2019, she filmed a steamy sex scene for The Wife.

She once told The Guardian that the idea of losing your sexuality with age is a myth. She said she feels just as free, creative, and passionate now as she always has.

She added, ‘And it’s ironic because I’m thinking: “How much time do I have left now?”‘

Close has never shied away from playing characters with a fierce, sensual edge.

Throughout her career, Glenn Close has consistently played characters who are both alluring, strong, and multifaceted, proving that age hasn’t diminished her talent or appeal.

Okay, seriously, can we talk about Glenn Close in *Fatal Attraction*? That movie… and *her* in it? It’s just… unforgettable. It’s not just a role, it *defined* how captivating and dangerous someone could be on screen. She absolutely nailed that whole seductive, intense vibe, and honestly, it’s still the standard for me. She’s just a master at it, period.

She once again challenged expectations with her role in Dangerous Liaisons, where her character’s cunning and charm fueled the story’s shocking events.

As a lifestyle observer, I’ve always been fascinated by how artists push boundaries. Even in a role like Albert Nobbs, Glenn Close managed to portray intimacy and desire with a quiet boldness that really surprised and moved audiences. It was a subtle performance, but incredibly daring for its time.

Now, off-screen, Close is celebrating her first grandchild.

Her daughter, Annie, welcomed baby Rory Westaway Albu in February.

Glenn Close recently shared with AARP that she’s become a grandmother! Her grandson is nearly seven months old, and she’s embracing her new role with a lot of joy and pride. She especially loves getting to spend time with him.

Close is keeping busy with her next big project.

Next November, she’ll appear in “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” a new murder mystery featuring a fantastic cast.

Daniel Craig is back as detective Benoit Blanc, this time solving a murder connected to a church in upstate New York. The case involves a former boxer turned priest, Reverend Jud Duplenticy (played by Josh O’Connor), and the difficult Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin).

The film stars Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, along with Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.

Martha is a dedicated member of her church, meticulously maintaining the altar and flower arrangements.

Like Glenn Close herself, the character Martha has hidden depths – a passionate side concealed beneath a proper facade, as if a fire burns within her.

She watched the movie for the first time at its debut screening at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, and it made her think about her career as an actress.

After more than 50 years as an actress, she’s come to understand she’s an introvert – but that changes when she’s working with other actors and creating performances, whether on stage or for film, she explained to AARP.

Beyond my family, this place truly feels like home. Seeing everyone come together like this is wonderful – it’s pure joy.
