Glen Powell shares exciting filming update on action remake
As a hardcore gamer and massive fan of classic action films, I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming remake of “The Running Man.” Glen Powell‘s recent update on this project has left me absolutely thrilled!
Glen Powell provided an encouraging piece of news regarding the forthcoming revival of the iconic action movie “The Running Man.”
The actor who starred in “Twisters” shared with IndieWire during an interview that he will begin filming for the new project around autumn.
In the upcoming production, Powell is set to take on the character of Ben Richards, which was originally brought to life by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 film. Edgar Wright, known for his work in “Hot Fuzz,” “Baby Driver,” and “Last Night in Soho,” will be at the helm as the director.
He shared with the media that he’ll be filming “The Running Man” in the autumn. At the same time, he’s got to focus on his studies for his bachelor’s degree in Spanish and early American history at the University of Texas.
He mentioned that he needs to return for supervised exams, which means he’ll have to come back a few times during the semester to take care of all his things. Edgar [Wright] has been gracious about allowing him to complete his degree amidst his busy film production schedule.
Regarding the new version, Powell mentioned that he and Wright have been exchanging ideas about the script, an enjoyable process for both of them.
“Edgar’s created a world for this project that’s absolutely amazing, I must say. It’s truly exceptional. We’re both huge fans of the Stephen King novel this film is adapted from, and the character promises to be fantastic. I’m genuinely excited about it.”
For Powell, collaborating with the director has been a cherished career goal. He expresses great admiration for Edgar Wright, referring to himself as a big fan.
I’m absolutely thrilled and can’t help but exclamify, working alongside Edgar at this moment is an unbelievable privilege for me. Over the past few years, our friendship has blossomed, making it all the more exciting for us to team up finally.
In the 2025 version of “The Running Man,” which is a remake of the original film, the story takes place in a grim and lawless America that’s plagued by rampant violence and poverty. The fundamental concept remains the same.

There is currently no release date for The Running Man.
