In the upcoming adaptation directed by Edgar Wright, the actor will portray the main character Ben Richards, a role previously played by Schwarzenegger in the 1987 action film “The Running Man.

He mentioned that Arnold had given his approval, adding that Patrick Schwarzenegger, who is a close friend of his, served as the conduit for this conversation. Since their last encounter was during the filming of “The Expendables” in Bulgaria, he hadn’t had a chance to catch up with Arnold since then.

Powell mentioned that Schwarzenegger had given his complete approval, and they were looking forward to presenting him with a unique, entertaining surprise from the film. “I can’t wait to meet him,” he expressed.

The movie “The Running Man” is inspired by Stephen King’s 1982 dystopian novel, first published under the pen name Richard Bachman. This narrative follows the character Richard, a participant in the lethal TV show ‘The Running Man’. To claim a monetary reward and save his ailing child, he must outrun a squad of assassins pursuing him.

In a departure from the original film, the upcoming reboot, slated for release on November 7th, takes place in a violent and impoverished United States of 2025, maintaining the same fundamental theme.

In this production, we have Josh Brolin portraying a malevolent television executive, while also starring are Karl Glusman, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera, Katy O’Brian, William H Macy, Emilia Jones, Lee Pace, and Daniel Ezra.

Just last month, Powell gave us a report about the progress of the movie, stating that shooting had finally come to an end.

He announced on Instagram, “That wraps up the photography for ‘The Running Man‘ – a heartfelt thanks to our amazing cast and crew who put in so much effort. Can’t wait for everyone to catch a glimpse of what we’ve been working on… More to come soon!

The Running Man is slated for release on 7 November 2025.
