Glen Powell offers exciting update on new movie
As a die-hard fan of action-packed and thrilling movies, I can hardly contain my excitement about Glen Powell’s upcoming role in Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Running Man.” Having grown up on classics like “Shaun of the Dead,” it feels surreal to see Powell working with a filmmaker who has consistently delivered masterpieces that have shaped my cinematic tastes.
Glen Powell has shared an exciting update on his next movie.
The Top Gun star is set to appear in Edgar Wright’s big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man.
1982 saw the publication of a novel that unfolds in the future year of 2025. This tale centers around Ben Richards, a character who takes part in a survival-based television show where the participants strive to amass wealth by eluding a relentless group of assassins out to claim their lives.
In 1987, the story was brought to life on the big screen under the same title, with Paul Michael Glaser at the helm as director. Arnold Schwarzenegger took on the role of an unfairly incarcerated individual compelled to participate in the named game show, portraying the character.
Director Wright, who collaborated with Michael Bacall on the screenplay, will helm the upcoming adaptation. The main character in this project will be played by actor Powell from the movie “Anyone but You”, and he recently offered an encouraging glimpse into the movie’s progress.
“I have been doing a lot of sprinting. That’s all I can say. I’ve been working on my sprint,” he laughed while talking to Screen Rant.
For quite some time now, Edgar Wright has been one of my most cherished directors. Ever since watching “Shaun of the Dead”, I’ve been eagerly anticipating collaborating with him. He consistently produces exceptional works that seem to originate solely from his creative mind.
“The Running Man is something he absolutely loves, and we’re breathing life into the Stephen King novel by infusing it with plenty of Edgar Wright’s unique style, making it an exciting project. It promises to be a blast; I can hardly wait for it!”
Lately, Powell has been seen in the movie “Twisters,” which is a follow-up to the 1996 disaster flick “Twister,” helmed by director Lee Isaac Chung.
As an ardent movie enthusiast, I find myself cast as the daring storm chaser, Tyler Owens, in a thrilling film. In this gripping tale, I team up with none other than Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Javi (Anthony Ramos). Our lives become a race against time when several tornado systems collide above central Oklahoma, setting the stage for a battle of survival.
Twisters is in cinemas now.
