Astute music enthusiasts have noticed a conspicuous gap in Father John Misty’s 2025 UK and Ireland concert schedule, leading them to speculate that an announcement about his performance at a Glastonbury Festival-sized event is imminent.
Previously a member of the band Fleet Foxes, now solo artist Josh Tillman (age 43), known to many by his stage name, has just dropped his highly praised album titled “Mahashmashana.” He’s currently scheduling ten performances throughout June and August to promote it.
On those dates, June 28th and 29th, no shows have been scheduled yet, as they fall on the same days as the Glastonbury Festival.
Writing in a fan forum on Reddit, one person wrote: ‘Surely he’s nailed on? Would love to see him play The Park!’; ‘He’s played before so I don’t see why not.’; ‘The Park would be an ideal venue. I expect they will have him at End of The Road.’
Recently, Josh discussed his latest album in a chat with NPR and explained the reason behind selecting the Sanskrit title for it.
He said: ‘It means the great cremation pit, where the universe goes to die after its cycle of birth and death.’
“Yet, my position may seem elevated, but the issues I deal with are quite earthbound in my professional life. I find it intriguing how something so grand is associated with the themes I typically express.
He went on to say, ‘As I near the age of 40, I can sense hints of transience appearing on the edge of my perception.’
Instead of continually offering an expansive array of opportunities, it currently feels more like an intriguing, albeit limited, prospect.
The eight-track album features beautiful ballads, hypnotic psychedelia, and catchy rock hooks.
It follows highly-rated LPs God’s Favourite Customer, Pure Comedy, and I Love You, Honey Bear.
Although tickets for the 2025 Glastonbury festival have already been snapped up in a flash, the line-up for this event has yet to be officially announced.
