Gladiators 2025: You Won’t Believe Who Took Home the Crown!

In simpler terms, Amanda Wah and Joe Fishburn emerged victorious as champions in the Gladiators 2025 competition.

In January, the highly-acclaimed game show made its comeback on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, kicking off its second season after a triumphant reintroduction in 2024.

On Saturday night, Amanda from Warrington and Joe from Scarborough emerged victorious against their respective female and male opponents in the finale of the competition.

In the women’s final, Aneila Afsar, a supply teacher hailing from Manchester, gained an advantage of 1.5 seconds at the beginning of the Eliminator due to her impressive performances in the preceding events.

Despite that advantage, Amanda managed to overtake her and cross the finish line first.

After winning, Amanda turned to co-host Bradley Walsh and expressed, “I dedicated this win to my mom. This has been the most incredible journey I’ve ever embarked on – simply amazing!

Simultaneously, Joe started the race with a six-second advantage over Mus Dumbuya, a young worker from East London. Remarkably, he set a new record by completing the track in just 55 seconds, as per the broadcast.

Following his victory, Joe honored his grandmother, Christine, who took care of him since his mother passed away when he was just two years old.

He mentioned: ‘Growing up, I didn’t have a significant male role model, but she took care of everything for me. I wish you could be proud of me.’

In her retrospective, Amanda compared the 11-week span of training and contests, featuring encounters with the seemingly super-powered Gladiators, to a challenging yet enlightening internship experience.

She referred to the Gladiators as “the largest, most formidable, and powerful individuals,” yet added that they were not only fierce but also incredibly supportive. This was evident in their assistance during times when she experienced leg cramps or lost one of her shoes.

She stated, “They’re experts, and they’re careful not to cause harm. Their compassion truly stands out.

Following the completion of the Eliminator in 1 minute and 18 seconds, Amanda honored her late mother by dedicating her performance to her.

Additionally, she complimented her rival, Aneila, by stating: ‘Everyone has shown extraordinary skills, but Aneila stood out as an exceptionally strong competitor.’

She noted that it proved mentally tough for her opponent to claim the second spot with such speed, given that Zavia Hill, a fitness coach from Manchester, was forced to withdraw prior to the final because of an injury.

Speaking about my prize, I mentioned that I plan to display it proudly on my grandma Christine’s fireplace mantle. I couldn’t help but call the competition the absolute highlight of my life so far.

He mentioned that we were part of a fantastic finale, and I had the sensation that I had already triumphed just by being involved in this journey. However, it’s certainly pleasant to follow through and secure the victory in its entirety.

Joe also praised his ‘amazing opponent’ Mus and called it an ‘honour’ to compete alongside him.

To my fellow host Barney Walsh, I find myself utterly speechless. All I can express is my profound joy at collaborating with Mus. It truly makes my world spin, dear friend.

I continued, “And Christine, this extraordinary woman raised me since I was just two years old – a heartbreaking time when I lost my beloved mom.

Mus is truly remarkable as both a formidable competitor and trusted friend. Everything he accomplishes leaves me in awe, and I felt privileged to compete alongside him in the finals.

Amanda was encouraged by her girlfriend, two kids, friends, and relatives. Concurrently, Joe had the backing of his family as well as Roddy Mackay, a former 1993 Gladiator contestant.

2024’s Gladiator title on the BBC was reclaimed last year, with Army Officer Finlay Anderson and Fitness Trainer Marie-Louise Nicholson emerging victorious.

From 1992 to its cancellation in 2000, the program initially broadcast on ITV. It then made a brief comeback on Sky between 2008 and 2009.

This year, the Gladiators Live Tour will make its global debut across UK arenas.

Gladiators is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
