Gladiator 2 to hold early UK screenings ahead of cinema release

As a die-hard fan of the original Gladiator, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel with bated breath for the past two decades. The idea of watching Lucius Verus’ journey unfold under Ridley Scott’s masterful direction is nothing short of exhilarating!

Before its nationwide cinema release next month, there will be some preliminary showings of “Gladiator II” in the United Kingdom.

24 years later, I eagerly await the return of a saga that shaped my youth: the sequel to the original story. This time, it’s told from the perspective of Lucius Verus, son of Lucilla and Maximus, who finds himself enslaved following an invasion of his homeland.

Although fans have a short time left until the highly anticipated historical epic arrives at movie theaters in the UK on November 15, and in the US a week later, Ridley Scott’s newest movie will debut early through Paramount Pictures and the Film & TV Charity.

On November 13th, a special screening, known as a ‘Royal Film Performance,’ is happening in London. This occasion is arranged for the charity centenary of Film & TV, with the event and Red Carpet action being broadcasted to 30 cinemas scattered throughout the UK.

On October 16th, you’ll be able to purchase tickets for the unique event directly from the Film & TV Charity’s website. More information about the regional screenings, including when and where they will take place, will be shared soon.

For quite some time now, since the creation of ‘Gladiator’, I’ve often wondered: “Could there be a follow-up?” Scott recently shared. “It’s been close to 25 years, but we can finally put that question to rest, bringing excitement not just for me, but also for fans worldwide.

Working on Gladiator II reminded me of Orson Welles’ statement that filmmaking is like the ultimate toy train set for a boy. This project has been my biggest ride yet, and it seems fitting that its UK premiere is happening as a fundraiser for the Film and TV Charity, an organization dedicated to helping our industry thrive. I believe it will meet your expectations.

Marcus Ryder, CEO of the Film & TV Charity, is excited to share that Gladiator II has officially been selected as the 72nd Royal Film Performance. This event offers a platform to showcase the remarkable hard work and skill of those unsung heroes who contribute significantly to the film industry.

Gladiator II is released in cinemas on November 15 in the UK and November 22 in the US.
