Gino D’Acampo caught in harassment storm as celebrity chef is accused of ‘thrusting crotch’ at woman while filming for ITV
As an ardent admirer of Gino D’Acampo, I have followed his culinary adventures with great enthusiasm over the years. However, recent revelations about his behavior towards his colleagues have left me utterly disillusioned and deeply saddened.
Last night, celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo found himself under new allegations of inappropriate behavior as ex-colleagues claimed he made indecent gestures and explicit comments during the production of ITV shows.
Reports from the travel show Gordon, Gino & Fred: Road Trip claim that he inappropriately questioned one producer about her personal relationships and made physical advances towards another female team member.
Individuals within Gordon Ramsay’s company, Studio Ramsay, where the show was produced, have reportedly stated that the outspoken Italian chef was challenging to collaborate with and occasionally made his colleagues uncomfortable by making light of inappropriate gestures.
2021 saw ITV executives calling for a meeting with D’Acampo’s manager due to multiple complaints about his suspected conduct, which had been brought to their attention by staff members.
Nevertheless, at the age of 48, D’Acampo was granted the opportunity to continue featuring in the series alongside chefs Ramsay and Sirieix.
Based on reports from the program, there were multiple grievances made against D’Acampo, and he remained on the show until recently when he was discreetly let go last year.
It seems increasingly apparent that ITV and the production company may have concealed something.
ITV intervened and held a discussion with Gino’s previous manager regarding accusations of unacceptable conduct.
Despite a raft of lurid allegations The Mail on Sunday can reveal ITV still intends to screen a series of Family Fortunes which D’Acampo recorded earlier this year.
Simultaneously, another team member shared with our newspaper about observing D’Acampo’s reportedly problematic backstage behavior. They commented, “Crew members, contributors, and TV executives all see his behavior, clench their teeth, and try to carry on.
The individual tends to be overly physical, and this behavior is often seen as inappropriate, causing discomfort among others. He can also be brusque and challenging to deal with. It was reported that he occasionally makes inappropriate jokes involving exposing himself.
It might leave one questioning if he truly comprehends the inappropriateness of his actions, as his humor seems to suggest. This individual appears to possess an antiquated perspective, typically associated with Italian culture, where he believes his humor is amusing, perhaps even flirtatious. However, his behavior often creates discomfort among others.
Last year, I discovered through The Mail on Sunday that D’Acampo’s rumored actions made the production team of Gordon, Gino & Fred: Road Trip uneasy when he unexpectedly departed in March 2023, leaving me feeling quite unsettled as an ardent fan.
It was stated that he left due to his unwillingness to endure the tense negotiations of the contract, fearing it would strain his friendships with his fellow actors. However, it has been revealed in recent days that he was instead dismissed following accusations of not agreeing to a moral clause in the contractual agreement.
Independently, it’s come to light that a woman filed a complaint with the executives at ITV this month, alleging that she had been subjected to inappropriate conduct by Giuseppe D’Acampo for a span of five years.
From 2006 to 2011, I collaborated with a talented individual during my tenure on the popular daytime program, “This Morning,” where he served as the resident culinary expert. Additionally, our partnership continued on the weekend show, “Saturday Cooks!
It is also reported that ITV has allegedly mandated D’Acampo to undertake a linguistic and conduct training following criticisms regarding his behavior towards female coworkers on the show, Emission Impossible.
Reports indicate that production stopped due to concerns raised by the crew about his off-camera innuendos being inappropriate. It’s also claimed that some individuals received post-production counseling.
Last night, D’Acampo stated emphatically that he was entirely taken aback by, and categorically refutes, the distressing claims of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior that supposedly occurred in the past while filming Gordon, Gino & Fred.
Allow me to clarify: This incident did not occur. I value truthfulness immensely, and any insinuation that I intentionally misbehaved towards my female colleagues in an unprofessional manner is profoundly disturbing.
