Ginny Is a Sophomore, Austin Is in 4th Grade, and Marcus Struggles with Grades in Season 3

In Season 3, the primary characters from the show “Ginny & Georgia” will be in different year levels at Wellsbury High School. This is quite distinct from their actual actors’ positions. At the heart of Netflix’s popular family drama “Ginny & Georgia” lies the complex relationship between mother Georgia Miller and her daughter Ginny, as they deal with life’s challenges after moving to Wellsbury, Massachusetts.

Besides the central plot in Ginny & Georgia Season 3, which involved Georgia’s unexpected incarceration following her arrest as a suspect for the murder of Tom Fuller in Episode 1, a significant portion of the 10-episode series also delves into the educational experiences and growth paths of the key characters at Wellsbury High.

What Grade Is Ginny In During Season 3?

In the fictional series “Ginny and Georgia” during its third season, the character named Ginny, portrayed by Antonia Gentry, discovers and nurtures a deep affection for poetry.

In her sophomore year (10th grade), it was established that she is still attending school. Alongside her are her tight-knit friends, affectionately known as MANG – Maxene Baker, Norah Cohen, and Abby Littman. An unplanned pregnancy occurred between Ginny and her poetry classmate, Wolfe, but before the baby was born, she chose to have an abortion. Eventually, Ginny emerged victorious in the Boston Youth Poet Laureate competition, a major achievement for her. This triumph was significant because it represented Ginny’s resilience as she faced challenges and matured prior to starting junior year, which will unfold in Season 4.

What Grade Is Austin In?

As a devoted fan of Harry Potter, much like young George, I found myself grappling with a shocking revelation about my own mother: she had been arrested on charges of murder. Navigating this unexpected turn in my life has undeniably deepened my emotional understanding and resilience.

In the third season of “Ginny & Georgia,” it was disclosed that Austin remains at age nine and is in fourth grade. Since the smallest time gap between seasons two and three, the actor who is now 14 years old appears notably older than his nine-year-old character portrayed in the show.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, La Torraca acknowledged the gap in age between him and his character, as well as himself and his co-star Antonia Genty. He admitted that they occasionally overlooked this difference. To make himself appear a bit shorter when standing next to Gentry, he intentionally bent his knees.

In simpler terms, during the filming process, we managed your growth spurt alongside the showrunner and the rest of the production team. Antonia Gentry, who portrays Ginny, has often joked about you being taller than her.

Diesel La Torraca: “To be honest, we’ve let it slide a bit! [Laughs] It’s like having a 14-year-old at the table who’s supposed to be nine, but wearing Harry Potter glasses. And that’s alright! Sometimes I had to bend my knees or they gave her an apple box, but for the most part, we’ve kept the production going as usual.

What Grade Is Marcus In?

In the series “Ginny and Georgia,” Marcus Baker (portrayed by Felix Mallard) has been dealing with depression ever since his closest friend died two years prior. As the seasons progress, his mental health struggles intensify, impacting his academic performance negatively.

In Season 3, it’s clear that the character is still in tenth grade. But his grades aren’t up to par, which means he won’t be graduating with his current class. The best chance for him to stay with his class would be attending summer school. However, instead of going through summer school, the season finale unveiled that he will be seeking help for his alcoholism and depression by entering a rehab facility.

Since he’s opting out of summer school, it’s possible that Marcus may revert back to being a sophomore in Season 4 of “Ginny & Georgia”, considering his academic standing.
