The latest Tron movie, Tron: Ares, is now available to stream on Disney+ in the UK. The sci-fi film features Gillian Anderson and Jared Leto as leads, alongside Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, and returning star Jeff Bridges.
The story begins with Ares, a remarkably advanced AI program, entering the real world from the digital realm on a perilous mission. This event represents humanity’s very first contact with artificial intelligence in physical form.
I checked out this movie when it came out in October, and honestly, RogerEbert.com nailed it. They said it was just beautiful to watch and listen to, but also surprisingly thought-provoking. It’s clear the filmmakers really wanted to keep you hooked and not let your attention wander, and they totally succeeded!

It took nearly a decade to produce, but with its focus on artificial intelligence, Tron: Ares feels especially timely now, as Jared Leto shared in an interview with Digital Spy last October.

The timing of the movie’s release is ideal, given all the current buzz around AI, the actor explained. They began working on it nine or ten years ago, when AI wasn’t a mainstream topic – it was mostly discussed by researchers and academics.
Everyone is talking about and using this technology, even if they don’t realize it – it’s become integrated into our daily lives. That makes the timing of this film’s release particularly noteworthy.
Jared Leto pointed out that when the first Tron came out in 1982, computers and video games were a hot topic of conversation, which was the cultural context of the time.

He added that they were fortunate the topic aligned with what everyone was already discussing.
This movie is a genuinely fun, adventurous, and heartwarming experience, made even better by Jeff Bridges. It’s packed with excitement and humor, and I hope audiences enjoy it as much as I did seeing it as a child back in 1982.
