Okay, so MUBI just dropped some news about a movie I’m seriously hyped for – Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Get this – Gillian Anderson from The X Files is in it, alongside Hannah Einbinder who I loved in Hacks! It’s a horror flick and it’s coming to cinemas in the UK and Ireland later this year. I’m already marking my calendar!
The movie will be released in UK and Irish cinemas soon. Although a specific date hasn’t been confirmed, it’s likely to be around August 7th, which is when it comes out in the US.
Schoenbrun wrote and directed Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, a film about a queer director who becomes fascinated with an actress while working on a new version of the fictional Camp Miasma movie series.
What to Read Next
The Camp Miasma horror series, known for its quickly made and increasingly unpopular sequels, is being rebooted with a new, energetic director hoping to bring it back to life.
When she seeks out the famous actress from the original film—now a private and enigmatic figure—they both become entangled in a terrifying and obsessive world filled with danger and madness.

The first photos from the production show stars Einbender and Anderson as their characters, and also feature a mysterious hand rising from a lake, gripping a spear.
The film also stars Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin McDonald, Quintessa Swindell, and Jack Haven.
So, I’ve been following the new Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma movie, and the director, Schoenbrun, dropped some hints on X about it. They’re calling it a fresh take on horror remakes, and he basically said to expect a lot of blood, guts, and… well, other fluids. Sounds messy, and honestly, I’m kind of hyped!

The filmmaker said they create movies they would have loved to watch as a child, and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is their most ambitious effort yet. They describe it as a wild but comforting late-night adventure, the kind of horror movie you’d stumble upon at a video store and share with friends.
I’m thrilled to be spending the summer at sleepaway camp with the incredibly funny Hannah Einbinder, the amazing Gillian Anderson, and the team at MUBI and Plan B. Their decision to make this movie has unleashed a wild, over-the-top story full of action and, well, a lot of mess!
