Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer’s “excellent” British revenge thriller is now streaming for free

Both Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer have new films coming out this year – Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma and One Last Deal, respectively. But if you’re eager to see their work now, you can watch their 2007 thriller, Straightheads, for free.

Directed by Dan Reed, the film features Alice and Adam who are assaulted on their drive home after a countryside party. Several months later, Alice recognizes one of the men who attacked them and, with Adam’s assistance, begins planning her revenge.

Watching Straightheads can be challenging, and although critics weren’t impressed, it has gained a following online, with one IMDb user describing it as a great film that critics treated unfairly.

Critics generally weren’t as impressed with Straightheads. The film currently has a 43% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 21 reviews.

Variety praised the film for not backing down from its revenge plot, and The Times described it as a surprisingly thoughtful movie, despite being fundamentally an exploitation film.

Reviews for the film were mixed. Empire called it imperfect but intriguing, while ViewLondon praised Anderson’s acting as excellent. However, The Guardian found it unpleasant and illogical, and TimeOut agreed, describing it as superficial and unnecessary.
