Gigantamax Lapras is coming to Pokémon GO in a Max Battle Day
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Gigantamax Lapras Max Battle Day event in Pokémon GO is like a dream come true for me! The thrill of catching and battling with these powerful creatures has always been a significant part of my gaming journey.
Gigantamax Lapras is coming to Pokémon GO
On Sunday, December 8 from 2 to 5 pm local time, the upcoming Gigantamax Pokémon joining Pokémon GO will be Lapras. This Pokémon can be encountered in six-star Max Battles during that specific period.

Gigantamax Lapras arrives in Pokémon GO
To date, a total of five Pokémon have made their Gigantamax debut in Pokémon GO, and it has been announced that the sixth will be Gigantamax Lapras. Additionally, the shiny version of this Pokémon will also be introduced. Just like with previous Gigantamax Max Battles, the mechanics should remain consistent.
Event Bonuses
The following bonuses will be in effect during the Max Battle Day event.
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
- All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles
- Power Spots will refresh more frequently
- 8× Max Particles from Power Spots
Then, these bonuses will be active from midnight on the day of the event, ending at 5pm.
- 2× Max Particles from exploring
- 1/4 adventuring distance to receive Max Particles
This will let Trainers get all the Max Particles they need to take on as many battles as possible.
Gigantamax Lapras Pokémon GO Event Ticket
Besides the main event, there’ll be a ticket for a small fee of around $5 (or its local equivalent) offering a Timed Research session along with other special event rewards.
Timed Research rewards include the following.
- 1 Max Mushroom
- 25,000 XP
You’ll also receive the following bonuses.
- 2× XP from Max Battles
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 5,600
The Research Time-bound Event is scheduled for Sunday, 8th December, 2024, running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the local time zone.
Max Mushrooms arrive in Pokémon GO
Curious about what a Max Mushroom does in Pokémon GO? The introduction of Gigantamax Lapras will also introduce a new item into the game. Known as the Max Mushroom, this new item enhances the power of Fast Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Max Moves for your Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon, causing them to deal more damage. When activated, these moves will do double the usual amount of damage.
You can pile up Max Mushrooms just as you do with Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs. They’ll come with a time limit, approximately 5 minutes. These items are designed to facilitate the successful completion of Gigantamax Max Battles.
