Ghosts’ Missing Characters FINALLY Explained! You Won’t Believe Why!
In season 4 of the TV series Ghosts, it wasn’t uncommon to find some episodes without one or more characters from the regular cast. However, there’s a reasonable explanation behind this. The ghostly inhabitants of CBS’s Ghosts are the primary characters, and despite Sam and Jay’s efforts, the show is fundamentally about them. Therefore, whenever a ghost character takes a brief hiatus from the series, it’s hard not to notice.
In the fourth season of the show, it’s understandable that some episodes might not focus on main characters such as Sass, Thor, or Flower from Ghosts. Yet, it’s not just the abundance of characters in the series that leads to the occasional absence of cast members in season 4. When questioned about this trend in TVInsider’s “Ask Matt” column, TV critic Matt Roush provided an explanation:
[Matt Roush’s explanation]
The fourth season of the show sometimes doesn’t include main characters like Sass, Thor, or Flower because there are many characters in the series. However, there might be other reasons for their occasional absence that Matt Roush mentioned in his column.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve noticed that occasionally some beloved characters might not appear in every episode due to the sheer number of characters we have. It could be that the actors are unavailable for personal or professional reasons on a specific week. This also applies to recurring characters like the basement ghosts and the headless guy, who may not always make an appearance because their roles are limited by the storyline.
Ghosts Season 4 Absences Make More Sense Now
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, let me tell you that it’s quite clear why this show is so captivating – because the central cast of Ghosts is more expansive than many casual hang-out shows! You’ve got Sam and Jay, who are present in every episode, then there’s Thor, Sass, Isaac, Hetty, Alberta, Flower, Pete, and Trevor. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg; we haven’t even discussed Nancy, the basement ghosts, recurring guest stars like Nigel and Joan, or the new addition to the cast in season 4, Patience. Compare that to other hang-out shows with much smaller main casts, and it’s easy to see why Ghosts stands out!
Ghosts Actor | Character Name |
---|---|
Brandon Scott Jones | Isaac Higgintoot |
Roman Zaragoza | Sass |
Danielle Pinnock | Alberta |
Rebecca Wisocky | Hetty |
Richie Moriarty | Pete |
Asher Grodman | Trevor |
Devon Chandler Long | Thor |
The TV shows “Friends”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “New Girl”, and “How I Met Your Mother” share a similar structure with “Ghosts”. Each of these series revolves around a close-knit group of friends dealing with intricate personal and romantic situations. However, unlike “Ghosts”, which has ten main characters, the other shows have six each. This allows for more consistent character involvement in their respective episodes, something that “Ghosts” may not be able to deliver consistently. Nonetheless, the formula seems to be successful for the CBS sitcom so far.
Our Take On Some Ghosts Season 4 Episodes Missing Some Characters
The CBS Sitcom’s Next Outing is Likely To Continue This Winning Approach
It’s only natural that, as a devoted fan, I can understand why some characters might have to be written off in most episodes of Ghosts season 4, even if it weren’t due to real-life commitments from the actors. While Sass’s storyline in Ghosts season 4 wasn’t flawless, the plot effectively compensated for her absence in three episodes by weaving an engaging tale that kept me hooked.
In a similar vein, when Thor, portrayed by Devan Chandler Long, was missing from three episodes, it was eased by episodes like “Thorapy 2: Abandonment Issues” and “Alexander Hamilton and the Ruffle Kerfuffle.” These episodes effectively put Thor in the spotlight, much like Sass’s storyline demonstrated that he hadn’t been overlooked during his absence. Consequently, for the coming season, Ghosts could maintain this strategy without disrupting the sitcom’s structure.
