Ghosts and This Country bosses team for new BBC sitcom with Dawn French

As a seasoned gamer and comedy enthusiast who’s seen his fair share of sitcoms, I must say that the upcoming BBC series, “Can You Keep A Secret?”, piques my interest in an intriguing way. With Dawn French at the helm, backed by the creative minds behind shows like Ghosts and This Country, it promises a blend of classic sitcom elements with a thrilling farcical crime twist that I can’t help but be excited about.

The director of “Ghosts,” Simon Hynd, is joining forces with “This Country” producer Simon Mayhew-Archer to create a fresh BBC comedy series. Dawn French will be in charge of this upcoming project.

In the fresh comedy series titled “Can You Keep A Secret?“, we find French portraying Debbie Fenton, a former woman, whose determination knows no bounds as she tirelessly works to ensure the safety and well-being of her loved ones.

Yet, while the series portrays Debbie’s mischief, it becomes evident over time that more often than not, she is the one who requires protection – not from others, but from herself.

The comedy series unfolds in the rural West and revolves around a string of humorous mishaps when Debbie’s reclusive spouse, portrayed by Mark Heap from Friday Night Dinner, is erroneously believed to be deceased.

After making an unconventional choice, the playful elderly couple opted to conceal themselves in their attic, waiting for the maturation of their life insurance claims.

The unexpected series of events becomes overwhelming for their son Harry, an individual known for his sensitivity, as he encounters a typical phase in life but with an added element of crime.

Can Debbie and her family keep their crime a secret? Or will someone slip up and reveal all?
