Ghost Rider Is Reportedly Racing Into the MCU — And His Debut Could Arrive Sooner Than Expected

For years, Marvel fans have eagerly anticipated the introduction of a certain character into the MCU. A recent rumor suggests that his debut could happen surprisingly soon – much earlier than expected.

Marvel news source Daniel Richtman recently posted a scoop on his Patreon page with some unexpected details about Avengers: Doomsday. According to the report, the movie will include “multiple cameos from other characters, including Ghost Rider.” While it’s unclear which version of Ghost Rider will appear in Doomsday, fans will likely be excited to see the character join the MCU in any form.

With Marvel continuing its exploration of the Multiverse, Doomsday is set to explore various timelines-including one with the original X-Men-meaning the possibilities for how the MCU uses the character are endless. Nicolas Cage has previously played the role in two films: 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2011’s Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance. He portrayed Johnny Blaze, while Gabriel Luna played Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2016.

The Ghost Rider identity has been taken on by many characters in Marvel Comics-heroes and villains alike-starting with Johnny Blaze. He made a deal to trade his soul to “Satan” (who was later discovered to be ), which resulted in hellfire engulfing his body and transforming his head into a flaming skull. Besides Blaze, other people who’ve become Ghost Rider include Danny Ketch, Alejandra Jones, Robbie Reyes, Michael Badilino, Kushala and Sal Romero.

Currently, the idea that Ghost Rider will be in Avengers: Doomsday is just a rumor, so it’s best not to assume it’s true. Even if the character doesn’t appear, Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies the MCU has ever made, boasting a fantastic cast. The film will bring together established MCU actors like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston with newcomers such as Florence Pugh and Pedro Pascal. In this movie, the Avengers will team up with the Wakandans, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts* and the X-Men to battle a major threat.

The MCU Could See A Massive Timeline Shakeup

With Avengers: Doomsday nearing release, speculation about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future is increasing-and it suggests a possible appearance by Ghost Rider down the line. A new rumor claims that Doomsday and its follow-up film, Secret Wars, are establishing the .

According to Marvel insider Alex Perez, around ’75-80%’ of the current Marvel timeline will stay the same after the upcoming changes. There will be small adjustments, mostly to correct plot points that Marvel fans and Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel, have wanted to fix. “It’ll just be a quick scrub of details the MCU wants to sort of forget and redo,” Perez explained. These changes will supposedly include bringing back some heroes and villains, and will give Ghost Rider a great chance to play a bigger role.

Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
