Getaway host Sam McClymont reveals how her young children are coping as she battles aggressive breast cancer at age 38 – after she was initially given the all-clear
As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in empathy and understanding, I am deeply moved by Sam McClymont’s courageous journey as she battles breast cancer at such a young age. Having worked with countless individuals navigating their own health challenges, I can attest to the indomitable spirit that shines through adversity.
Sam McClymont shares insights about how her younger tunes are managing amidst her chemotherapy treatment, during her fight against breast cancer.
38-year-old host of The Getaway and renowned country music artist received a diagnosis for an aggressive type of illness last year.
She found it challenging to explain her diagnosis to her two young sons, Wilder, aged six, and Ari, aged five – however, they have proven to be understanding and supportive.
She informs Stellar Magazine this week that her son Ari often says, “This is my mom, she’s bald.
He doesn’t seem to notice anyone similar to me right now, and I believe it’s a precautionary measure as he wants to address the obvious issue before someone else does: “Indeed, Mum is bald. We are aware.
She mentioned that her son and her husband, pilot Ben Poxon, assisted her in cutting off her hair, yet she didn’t feel emotional while looking at herself in the mirror because they were by her side.
Previously, she had shared that she received a clean bill of health about a year ago following the discovery of a lump on her right breast. She expected this diagnosis to bring positive tidings.
She shared that she was alone when they informed her about her diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer, which is known as the most aggressive type,” she stated.
‘As I think about it, it seems like this situation has been developing quickly. After all, I learned about it back in October, and now we’re already at the end of February.’
Sam stated that she had additional tests done, but hadn’t received any response from her doctor yet, so she attended her subsequent appointment three weeks later.
‘I decided to go to see the specialist anyway and see what my options were,’ she told Woman’s Day.
However, she received a shocking diagnosis when the specialist disclosed that she had triple-negative breast cancer, which is the most aggressive type.
As I heard the news, tears welled up instantly, for it took me aback. He was explaining the various treatment options, yet I found myself struggling to accept it, Sam reminisced.
I cried profusely when I phoned Ben, who is her husband, and my little sister Mollie. Afterward, she too started weeping. None of us had anticipated such an event.
Sam has temporarily reduced her workload since she’s unable to go on location with her TV show, Getaway.
She has completed 12 of her 16 rounds of chemo and will then be having surgery and radiation.
Triple-negative breast cancer is regarded as potentially fatal due to its high aggression, causing a faster pace for the cancer’s growth and metastasis.
Frequent indicators often involve the presence of breast masses, inflammation, discomfort in the breasts or nipples, skin with a pitted appearance, as well as fluid leakage from the nipples.
