2025 Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO
The festivities for Lunar New Year will commence on the Lunar New Year itself and continue from January 29, 10:00 a.m., until February 2, 2025, 8:00 p.m., in local time.
Event Bonuses bring increased lucky chances
The following bonuses will be active during the event:
- Increased chance to get Lucky Pokémon in trades.
- Increased chance to become Lucky Friends.
These bonuses are simply terrific, and you shouldn’t miss out on them! Make sure to open every gift and trade as many Pokemon as you possibly can during this special occasion.
Lunar New Year Pokémon GO Wild Encounters
During the Lunar New Year event the following Pokémon will appear in the wild.
- Ekans
- Onix
- Snivy
- Darumaka
- Dunsparce
Additionally, the following Pokémon will appear but less frequently:
- Gyarados
- Dratini
Each of these Pokémon has the potential to be Shiny, while there’ll be an enhanced probability of finding a Shiny Ekans during the event.
Eggs
There will also be special 2 km Eggs during the event.
- Makuhita
- Nosepass
- Meditite
- Duskull
- Skorupi
Once more, these Pokemon can emerge as shiny upon hatching from an egg. The chances of hatching a Shiny Nosepass are increased with these eggs.

During the Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO, you’ll find themed Field Research tasks, Timed Research, special PokéStop showcases, and a Collection Challenge – all tailored to the occasion.
