Oh my gosh, Georgina Chapman? She’s just… breathtaking. A vision in blonde, always! And those diamonds? Forget about it – she only wears Harry Winston, naturally. Seriously, she’s been gracing red carpets for over twenty years and she still manages to take my breath away every single time. It’s amazing!
She first became known as the wife of Harvey Weinstein, a film producer who later faced disgrace, after marrying him in 2007.
He was at the height of his influence in Hollywood, having produced blockbuster films like Pulp Fiction, and could easily launch or ruin an actor’s career. She, a rising star and known for her elegant style, often accompanied him, showcasing her own fashion line, Marchesa, with breathtaking gowns.
Following the stunning accusations against Harvey Weinstein in 2017 – over 80 women came forward with allegations of assault, and he was eventually convicted of rape in a high-profile case that deeply impacted Hollywood and fueled the Me Too movement – Bennett Chapman became much more private.
She quietly divorced Harvey Weinstein. Later, she gave an interview to Vogue (helped by her friendship with Anna Wintour) where she claimed she was unaware of his deeply disturbing behavior.
I remember being so surprised and excited when she started appearing with Adrien Brody, the Oscar winner! It felt like she was really stepping back into the spotlight after keeping a low profile for a while, and it was lovely to see her with someone so wonderful.

Norman Reedus and Vivienne Cox, who were introduced by model Helena Christensen in 2019, are now living together. Cox, age 49, accompanied Reedus to the Oscars in March, wearing a Marchesa gown, when he won his second award for his role in The Brutalist.
During his speech, Brody, 52, publicly thanked his partner, Georgina. He excitedly shared that she had not only boosted his confidence, but also helped him rediscover what’s important in life.
However, Chapman has recently become very quiet and withdrawn, suggesting he’s stepping away from public life again.
Fashion label Marchesa, founded by Georgina Chapman, is facing potential legal issues due to claims of unpaid debts.
Starting last November, twelve or more lawsuits have been filed against Marchesa, its co-founder Georgina Chapman, her brother Edward (who manages the company), or a combination of them.
It’s unclear how the Chapmans will react to these accusations, or whether any of them are true, but they involve at least $5 million in claimed debts.
Oh my god, can you believe it? Apparently, the landlords of Marchesa’s New York office – the entire two floors of this amazing building, can you imagine?! – are saying Georgina Chapman’s company owes them over two million dollars in back rent! Two million! It’s just…a disaster. I’m so worried about where this is all going, but honestly, the fact that they have two floors in such a prime location just feels so…Marchesa. But still, two million! It’s crazy!
Only this week Square, a payment service, sued for non-payment of a $406,000 short-term loan.

Georgina and Edward have fallen behind on their mortgage payments for their Greenwich Village apartment, which they originally obtained in 2022. Despite this, they recently borrowed an additional $2 million against the property in February, even though the apartment’s current value is approximately $2.6 million.
Photographers are claiming they’re owed $65,000, and embroiderers say they’re due $96,000. The Daily Mail reached out to Georgina Chapman, Edward Chapman, and Marchesa for a response.
Oh my god, it’s just been lawsuit after lawsuit for the last three years! If even some of these claims are true, it sounds like they’re drowning in debt – a constant, crushing weight. And honestly, I adore their dresses, I’ve been eyeing one for ages, but now I’m starting to worry… buying from their website might be a really risky move. I just want them to be okay, but also, I want that dress!
Many customers recently reported paying for dresses from the company but not receiving the items they ordered.
A single website lists 181 complaints about the brand Marchesa, though we haven’t been able to confirm these claims ourselves.
A customer reported placing an order with Marchesa in July and not receiving any follow-up. They paid for the order in full but haven’t received a response to their inquiries through the website or Instagram, and are understandably frustrated.
A customer waiting for a $2,542 refund reported being ignored after emailing the company. They said they haven’t received any response and are still waiting for their money.
One customer reported requesting a refund for a dress they returned in January but hadn’t received it by July. They noted seeing many similar complaints online, and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the company, calling them scammers.

That is, surely, an overstatement but it appears that the company could be in trouble.
A clear sign the company is in trouble is that emails aren’t being delivered. You’re receiving a message saying the person’s inbox is full and asking you to try sending the email again later or contact them another way.
Georgina Chapman, who lives in a large $5 million home in Bedford Hills, New York with her partner Adrien Brody and her two children (ages 15 and 12) from her previous marriage to Weinstein, hasn’t made any public statements. She hasn’t been active on social media since May.
A former publicist says she hasn’t been responding to questions about the situation. Someone familiar with the company shared this week that they think Georgina will do whatever it takes to safeguard the business.
The source adds: ‘Georgina got all this money from her divorce, so where has all the money gone?’
Georgina reportedly received $15 million in her divorce, but, as Victoria and David Beckham know, that’s not nearly enough to fund a fashion brand, according to fashion journalist Lauren Sherman of Puck.
The funding behind the Marchesa fashion brand has always been unclear. Harvey Weinstein claimed he wasn’t providing financial support, particularly in recent years. However, the central question remains: who is actually financing Marchesa?
Producing both high-end gowns for stores – costing between $5,000 and $7,000 each – and custom designs for individual clients requires significant financial resources. The brand, like many in the fashion world focused on luxury, is facing increasing debt.

In all of this, you can’t really fault Georgina Chapman’s drive and ambition.
Georgina’s father, Brian Chapman, made his fortune by creating the Percol coffee brand and is now a multi-millionaire. He owns homes in Wimbledon, southwest London, and on the Isle of Wight. Her parents, Brian and Caroline, are divorced; Caroline is a journalist who used to work for Reader’s Digest.
Georgina went to boarding school at St David’s in Ashford, Surrey, and later attended Marlborough College, the same school as Kate Middleton. She had dyslexia, which wasn’t identified until she was eight years old, and also had a hip problem that caused her feet to turn inward.
At 17, she began a career in modeling but soon transitioned into acting. Some of her early roles included appearances in the 2003 television adaptation of Sons and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence and in the film Piccadilly Jim, adapted from the work of Julian Fellowes and P.G. Wodehouse.
She first encountered Harvey Weinstein at a New York party in 2004, the same year he separated from his wife, Eve. They had three daughters together, with the youngest being just two years old then.
Georgina and Weinstein had an intermittent relationship, but her mother was already concerned. She worried about her daughter becoming involved with Weinstein, who was much older – 24 years her senior – and known throughout the industry as an arrogant and intimidating figure.
Georgina then decided to pursue a new path, leaving the film industry to study art at Chelsea College of Art and Design. She and her close friend, Keren Craig, began designing clothes together, renting a studio to work from. They named their new clothing line after Marchesa Louisa Casati, a stylish and famous Italian heiress from the past.
Whether it was luck or connections made through her new, famous boyfriend, things started falling into place for her surprisingly fast. She quickly received a series of helpful boosts and opportunities.

The designers received support from Swarovski, met with famous stylist Rachel Zoe, and got red carpet advice from Jimmy Choo founder Tamara Mellon. A major turning point came in November 2004 when Renée Zellweger, known for wearing Carolina Herrera, chose a Marchesa gown for the London premiere of Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason.
Renée Zellweger explained she was wearing a dress by new British designer Marchesa, describing it as beautifully weighted and hand-embroidered, and saying she was a big fan.
Honestly, seeing his new girlfriend actually in the movie? It felt…significant. I mean, Harvey Weinstein wasn’t just some producer on ‘Bridget Jones’ – he was Hollywood back then. He had that much power, and it definitely felt like she got the part because of him. It just…it all makes sense now, looking back. He could make or break anyone’s career.
I was absolutely thrilled when Renee started getting Marchesa noticed! It wasn’t long before Neiman Marcus, a huge deal in New York, reached out to carry the line, and even help them design a more affordable collection. It was such exciting news that Georgina immediately moved to New York to be closer to everything happening with the brand.
Marchesa’s quick rise to fame caused some surprise. A 2006 article in the Los Angeles Times, titled ‘The Harvey Factor,’ noted that many in the industry believed celebrities wore Marchesa dresses on the red carpet to stay in the good graces of Harvey Weinstein – and those around him. Publicists reportedly dreaded hearing the name ‘Marchesa’ because of this perceived pressure.
Harvey, who married Georgina in December 2007 at his home in Connecticut, with a guest list full of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, and Renée Zellweger, was one of the first people to invest in the company when it started.
According to The New York Times, he donated to the company, but the exact amounts weren’t revealed.
I’ve learned that Harvey Weinstein also had support from some influential friends. One of them was Giuseppe Cipriani, who comes from a famous family of restaurateurs – he’s the grandson of the original Giuseppe Cipriani, a real legend in the industry.

In 2007, journalist Lauren Sivan met Harvey Weinstein at the Socialista bar in Cipriani’s New York. After dining with Cipriani and Weinstein, he offered to show her the downstairs area. Sivan alleges that he then trapped her and sexually assaulted her in a plant pot.
Guiseppe Cipriani stated that nothing happened at his bar. He said he wasn’t aware of any incident occurring that night and that no one reported anything like that to him.
However, Ms. Sivan later said that Cipriani’s restaurants were places where Weinstein would seek out victims, and at least three other alleged assaults by Weinstein reportedly happened at Cipriani-owned properties.
Cipriani has denied knowing about any assault or other wrongdoing at the time.
Meanwhile, with Cipriani’s money, and Harvey’s encouragement, the Marchesa brand became popular.
At the Rome premiere of The Aviator, Cate Blanchett chose a short dress by Marchesa. Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, and Diane Kruger were also present, all wearing gowns.
The label was named Red Carpet Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2007.
Everything changed in 2017 when the New York Times published a report revealing decades of accusations against Harvey Weinstein, alleging he had paid off people who accused him of sexual harassment. This effectively ended his successful career.

Chapman has cancelled her fashion show and announced her separation from her husband. In a statement, she expressed her deep sympathy for all women who have experienced pain due to his unacceptable behavior.
Initially, the situation appeared very difficult. The hashtag #BoycottMarchesa quickly became popular on Twitter, and one New York fashion expert predicted that celebrities would no longer wear the brand.
Georgina retreated to London with the children.
During a 2018 interview with Vogue, she spoke candidly about her feelings, admitting she’d been very naive. She described experiencing intense emotions – anger, confusion, and sadness – and worrying deeply about the impact of the situation on her children. She expressed particular heartbreak over the fact that her children love their father, and the potential difficulties they might face because of it.
She explained that she was completely unaware of what was happening. She said that’s what hurt the most – she believed she had a wonderful and fulfilling marriage and truly enjoyed her life.
Several months passed, and Vogue published an article questioning whether it was time to start wearing Marchesa designs again. Shortly after, Anna Wintour appeared on The Late Show and stated, ‘Georgina is a talented designer and shouldn’t be held responsible for the actions of her husband.’

But not all the A-list rushed back, and in 2019 co-founder Keren Craig quit the company.
Georgina remained dedicated to her work, consistently releasing four collections annually through online platforms until recently. In the past, when Marchesa was at its most popular, the collections were showcased with fashion shows in both London and New York.
The company didn’t release official sales or profit numbers, but sources close to them said business was good and estimated Marchesa’s yearly income at $38.5 million.
She’s found love and happiness with a man she describes as a deeply caring and private person.
In a Vogue interview, she described Adrien Brody as someone who deeply feels and internalizes everything that happens to him – both the good and the bad. She explained that he has a rich inner life and is very emotionally sensitive, making him deeply connected to the world around him.
She couldn’t be more different from her cruel ex-husband. However, it remains to be seen if this loving couple can overcome their current challenges.
