Georgia Toffolo takes swipe at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s ‘£50M’ wedding and says couple should have donated the cash to charity – three months after eloping for down to earth nuptials with millionaire James Watt

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but voice my thoughts about the extravagant wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. It’s only fair that instead of spending £50+ on such a grand event, they should have generously donated this amount to a worthy charity. After all, with great wealth comes great responsibility!

30-year-old TV host, who recently secretly wed brewery tycoon James Watt (age 43), playfully criticized the newly-married tech mogul from Amazon in a Q&A session on Instagram last Sunday.

The wedding of Bezos-Sanchez attracted many famous faces from the world of entertainment and sports, including Tom Brady, the Kardashian family, Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey, among others.

Georgia pondered over the question of how they could have spent such a large sum, following a query from one follower who inquired: “What are your thoughts on Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding?

She responded: “Well, everyone has their preferences, and I’m aware that many ladies dream about their wedding day, desiring a grand celebration. Nevertheless…

‘If they had used the over fifty million pounds they donated to charities for something else, say spending it on an exciting weekend adventure, now that would have been incredibly amazing and unique.’

Or

‘Suppose they had invested the millions they donated to charity into a fantastic weekend getaway instead. That would have truly been an extraordinary act!’

She went on to express, ‘It feels awkward to mention this, and I might later wish I hadn’t, but instead of spending our wedding funds, we chose to donate them to the very church where we exchanged our vows.’

‘James did it without telling me which genuinely was the most thoughtful wedding gift ever’.

Georgia and James opted for an unexpectedly simple approach for their own wedding in March, surprising fans by choosing to elope first and then celebrate the union on a fishing boat in Scotland. They preferred to follow their unique path rather than the traditional wedding route.

On a practical day, they found themselves boarding a ship not far from the charming coastal town of Gardenstown in Aberdeenshire, enjoying the experience together.

In the northeastern corner of Scotland, you’ll find the quaint, seaside hamlet known as Gardenstown, which thrives primarily on its fishing industry.

In my experience, this charming coastal town boasts a picturesque beach, an active harbor bustling with activity, and a historic church that offers breathtaking vistas of the magnificent sea.

Later, it was disclosed that they planned a three-day honeymoon in Scotland and had maintained a quiet lifestyle following their nuptials, swiftly returning to their regular routine.

In October, I was thrilled to accept a proposal from my partner, who swept me off my feet with a stunningly beautiful eight-carat ring adorned with three sparkling diamonds, making it truly a treasure for my finger and our love story.

During Georgia’s romantic vacation in Greece for her 30th birthday, the ring was approximately valued at £200,000.

Following the BrewDog founder’s earlier confirmation that they planned to get married this year, it seems that they stayed faithful to their commitment. However, guests received just 48 hours of advance notice for the event.

The arrival of Bezos and Sanchez in Venice didn’t go as smoothly as planned, as they faced strong opposition from demonstrators who were incensed that the concerns of the local community seemed to be overlooked in favor of accommodating affluent tourists.

Bezos is worth around $224.6 billion and is thought to have spent tens of millions on his wedding.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d rephrase that statement as follows: “If you can afford to host your wedding in the enchanting cityscape of Venice, then you’re certainly capable of handling a higher tax bill.

Greenpeace and the UK-based group Everyone Hates Elon participated in demonstrations in Venice with the intention of disrupted or stopping the planned wedding festivities of Amazon’s founder, Bezos.

‘Jeff Bezos, who’s ranked second in wealth globally, allegedly pays a tax rate of just 1.1%. Meanwhile, it’s said that his upcoming wedding will span over three days and the cost of the ring could reach up to $5 million.’

Previously, a representative from the group ‘Everyone Hates Elon’ commented that while governments are grappling with tough decisions and funding essential public services, Jeff Bezos has the means to halt an entire city for several days simply for his wedding.

Mayor Luigi Brugnaro and regional governor Luca Zaia have expressed their support for the highly anticipated wedding, often referred to as “the wedding of the century.” They emphasize that the festivities could potentially generate between $23 million and $34 million for local businesses in revenue.
