Georgia May Foote says she is ‘struggling’ with vitiligo diagnosis as she reveals she is officially on a waiting list for therapy treatment

I was really touched by Georgia May Foote’s recent post. She bravely shared a video on Instagram letting us know she’s been dealing with a vitiligo diagnosis, and it’s clear it’s been a struggle for her. It’s so inspiring to see her being so open about it.

The 35-year-old actress, famous for her role as Katy Armstrong on Coronation Street, has a long-term autoimmune condition that causes areas of skin to lose their color.

She recently shared an update on her skin condition with her followers, explaining that she’s currently finding it difficult to manage, but she’s now on the list to receive treatment.

Georgia recently shared on social media that her skin condition becomes more visible when she has a tan, and this has been causing her some difficulty.

I just got home from work, and I noticed something today. Every time I went to the bathroom, I caught a glimpse of my face in the mirror.

It seems like my vitiligo is less noticeable when I’m on vacation. But once I’m back home, in regular light and my everyday surroundings, it becomes more visible – like you can see now, I have quite a bit of it around my nose, mouth, and eye.

‘It’s a huge change, it’s very much all down my arms and armpits. I have struggled with it today.

You know, life throws curveballs, and it’s totally normal to have tough times. But I always remind myself that even on those days, I’m still worthy of feeling beautiful and confident, and honestly, that’s what really matters, right? It’s about embracing your inner beauty, no matter what.

She demonstrated how the rash appeared on her arms, explaining that sunlight makes it more noticeable. She also mentioned she’s now on a therapy waiting list to address the issue.

In September, she posted a photo of her hand, showing more noticeable pale patches, and explained that her condition was becoming more apparent.

Georgia penned: ‘Having this condition is really, really getting to me at the moment.

‘I have NEVER seen it spread so fast. My skin is literally itching so badly as it does so.

I saw a dermatologist nine months ago, and they put me on the waiting list for phototherapy. I haven’t received any updates since then.

I checked in two weeks ago, but was informed that once a referral is made, they are no longer involved. It feels like another chance to resolve this long-standing issue – which has been ongoing for five years – has disappeared due to the process.

She added: ‘I’m literally getting covered now. Has anyone had any luck with Protopic without uvb?’

Vitiligo happens when the cells that make skin color, called melanocytes, are destroyed. This causes patches of skin to turn a milky-white color.

Georgia posted a photo of her hand, which showed noticeable white patches, and told her followers that the skin condition was getting worse.

Vitiligo can affect skin all over the body, and it can even appear in places like hair or inside the mouth, says the Mayo Clinic.

Georgia shared with her fans in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with a medical condition, after seeking answers from doctors for years.

She described having a condition that caused spots on her arms, hands, elbows, and feet, and said new ones were constantly appearing.

It’s just… wherever it shows up on one side, it’s mirrored on the other. I really try to ignore it, to not let it bother me, but honestly? It gets me so down sometimes knowing I’m stuck with this forever. It’s always there, you know? Always.
