George Lopez’s Heartbreaking Farewell After NBC Cancels Sitcom Mid-Run

George Lopez shared an emotional message while facing a major career blow.

Last Friday, it was revealed by NBC that the comedy series starring a 64-year-old comedian would not continue beyond its third season. In response, he expressed his thoughts about the show’s cancellation through social media platforms.

He posted a video featuring his 29-year-old daughter and acting partner, Mayan Lopez, humorously responding to the news of the show’s cancellation. They mimicked popular TikTok sounds while expressing their displeasure with the decision using the phrase, ‘That was really inconsiderate.’

He appeared on the series with his daughter throughout its entire duration, right up until the season three conclusion which aired on February 7 of this very month.

On Friday, NBC announced that Lopez vs. Lopez would not be renewed for another season.

Shortly afterward, he surprised fans with his unkempt hairstyle and unruly appearance, a stark contrast to what they saw only three months prior.

After catching up on the latest news, Lopez expressed his opinions and emotions by writing a caption for a post on Instagram, sharing his immediate response in this way.

He expressed gratitude to his 1.4 million Instagram followers, acknowledging their unwavering love and support over the past three seasons. He also hinted at an upcoming official announcement, saying, “Rest assured, we will share something significant with you all soon.

He went on to say, “This wasn’t merely a performance; it’s an integral part of us. We’ve formed a bond, a family. We’ve also provided employment opportunities for RAZA.

He commented: ‘A lot more happens backstage, and I remain eternally appreciative and thankful to each and every person in our LopezVSLopez family.’

He signed off his emotional message as ‘Tio George.’

In a TikTok video posted by her daughter Mayan, she expressed her feelings about NBC canceling their show after three seasons.

Additionally to this, it’s worth noting that Mayan, who plays multiple roles as both co-creator, writer, and actor in Lopez vs. Lopez, responded to the show’s termination via her Instagram Stories.

She said that the cast and crew ‘loved the show’ and was happy that the fans did too.

While she was still processing the news, she expressed her gratitude that their show would live on indefinitely on television.

Additionally, she posted a picture of her team and penned that the cast and crew would now be part of Lopez’s family, for all eternity.

In “Lopez vs. Lopez,” we follow the tale of a blue-collar Latino father, who decided to live with his young adult Gen Z daughter as an attempt to strengthen their bond.

The show also starred Matt Shively, Brice Gonzalez, Selenis Levya and Al Madrigal.

The shocking news comes weeks after the finale of the third and last season aired in February.

Besides the case of Lopez vs. Lopez, NBC has also decided to end several television series. Among these cancellations are Night Court, Suits LA, The Irrational, and Found, as reported by Deadline.
