George Clooney’s Shocking Baseball Skills at 63: Could Have Gone Pro!
At the age of 16, he aimed for a career in professional baseball, but later switched to acting instead.
It appears that George Clooney hasn’t let his bat-swinging prowess slip, as he recently demonstrated his skills in Central Park, New York City.
As a devoted admirer, I had the privilege of witnessing the captivating presence of the Academy Award-winning thespian, aged 63, at the Broadway League Softball Game last Thursday. His charisma from Tinseltown was truly palpable.
He dressed casually for the match and wore a dark baseball cap, navy polo-shirt and grey shorts.

Clooney suddenly showed up on stage only a few hours following the announcement of his very first Tony Award nomination for his initial performance in Good Night, and Good Luck on Broadway.
In 1977, the actor attempted to join his local team, the Cincinnati Reds, on two occasions. However, despite the trials, he wasn’t offered a contract because, during an attempt to avoid a swiftly approaching ball that was heading straight for his head, he lost his balance and fell over.
In December 2023, Clooney stated, ‘He hurled a fastball that clocked 82 miles per hour towards my head. I was so taken aback that I actually tumbled backwards, and the ball missed its mark, landing on the outside edge of home plate. Everyone around burst into laughter.’
What I was missing was the necessary skill. I had all the other essentials – I wore a fine hat, and I had a quality uniform. However, it was my capacity to play the game that was lacking.
