George Clooney Shows Off Grey Roots, Growing Out ‘Awful’ Dye Job at Tony Awards
At the 78th Annual Tony Awards press event on Thursday, George Clooney showcased his noticeable graying hair, seemingly opting to let go of a less-than-impressive hair color treatment.
At the Sofitel hotel in New York, during the Meet The Nominees event, a silver fox of 64 years old showcased his naturally grown-out sideburns hair.
The man with two children presented a sharp appearance in a charcoal suit paired with a black undershirt, and his hair was styled differently, parted to one side.
George Clooney received his initial nomination for a Tony Award in the category of Best Leading Actor in a Play, marking his debut on Broadway in “Good Night, and Good Luck.
Although he might win a notable award for his work, it’s his questionable dark brown hair coloring for the role that has garnered him the most media attention.
Supporters have been expressing their dissatisfaction over his recent hairstyle change to a darker shade and the application of an orange-toned self-tanner. Some have even commented that it gives him a significantly older appearance, approximately two decades.

In March, the actor changed his hair color to a deep brown in order to portray Edward R. Murrow for the stage version of the 2005 movie “Good Night, and Good Luck.
Clooney previously admitted that his wife Amal wasn’t a fan of his darker ‘do.
They teased that he looked like he had “slathered a generous amount of permanent marker onto his hair” since they urged him to rinse off the hair color.
Clooney has taken the criticism around his ‘awful’ dye job in stride.
A little over a month ago, during the unveiling of his portrait at the esteemed Manhattan eatery Sardi’s – a longstanding custom for Broadway artists – he playfully commented on the occasion.
The painting of Clooney, featuring his distinctive salt-and-pepper hair style, seemed a closer likeness to him compared to how he actually looked at that moment.
After taking a look at the drawing, Clooney felt compelled to cracked a joke about his hair.
In a playful manner, Clooney commented on the portrait, saying, “I prefer that hair color over mine at the moment.” He then added, “Well, that suits me. It’s mainly gray, isn’t it? Thanks for that, it looks great!

In a conversation with Gayle King during the April installment of CBS Mornings, George Clooney himself admitted that the colored brown hair he sports isn’t exactly top-notch.
King said: ‘I have to take a moment looking at you with the dark hair.’
‘I know it’s not good!’, Clooney interjected.
Gayle added: ‘I didn’t say it wasn’t good!’
As for me, I must confess, it’s quite an unfamiliar sight! Over the years, I’ve come to learn that one never truly grows accustomed to it. You see, by the time I turned 25, grey hues had already become a predominant part of my appearance, so I’ve spent most of my life with this look. Frankly, it’s not my preferred style.
I can’t help but chuckle to myself whenever I see my reflection – my kids find it amusing too! You see, when a man of 63 decides to dye his locks, it’s hard not to notice the irony. After all, what could possibly age a person more than embracing such a bold move?
The stage production, happening during the McCarthy period, features Clooney playing the character of news anchor Murrow, a role that was brought to life on screen in the 2005 movie by David Strathairn, where Clooney both starred and directed.
The stage performance had a sneak peek in mid-March, and it officially started in early April, continuing until early June.

On a thrilling Thursday morning, I woke up to the heart-stopping news that George Clooney had been nominated for Best Lead Actor! The honorable Wendell Pierce and the captivating Sarah Paulson, both Tony winners, shared this exciting announcement on the day’s episode of CBS Mornings. As a devoted fan, I simply couldn’t contain my excitement!
George Clooney shares nomination with Louis McCartney for “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” a spinoff of the popular Netflix show, Stranger Things.
In addition to their rivals, they face off against Cole Escola, who not only plays Mary Todd Lincoln in the humorous play Oh, Mary! but also penned it himself. Additionally, Daniel Dae Kim is a competitor for his role in Yellow Face, as well as Harry Lennix and Jon Michael Hill, both of whom are notable for their work in the Pulitzer Prize-winning production of Purpose.
On June 8, the prestigious Tony Awards will be presented live at Radio City Music Hall, with broadcasting hosted by illustrious actress and Tony Award recipient Cynthia Erivo, who is also a star from “Wicked.
