George Clooney Roasts His Grey Hair and Cracks Brad Pitt Joke During NYC Broadway Tribute
George Clooney made a self-deprecating joke while receiving a beloved Broadway honor on Thursday.
63-year-old actor comes back to New York City for his first Broadway performance in a stage version of his 2005 movie “Good Night, and Good Luck”.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I had the pleasure of attending a captivating stage production that commenced its preliminary run in mid-March. The grand opening, however, took place in early April, and it ran all the way up until early June.
On Thursday, the actor – who not long ago offered a seldom-given compliment to Donald Trump – was given an esteemed honor as his portrait was hung at the legendary Manhattan eatery, Sardi’s, a venerable custom for Broadway stars.
Upon receiving the accolade and glancing at his likeness for the first time, he offered a humorous remark about his hairstyle.
Although his hair was darkened during his stage performance as Edward R. Murrow, the portrait predominantly showcased his usual gray hairstyle, a style he seems to favor.

Clooney playfully commented, ‘The hair color here is great.’ He finds it preferable to his current hair color, as he held the portrait.
The actor said at the restaurant, “That looks improved. It’s predominantly gray, if I may say so. Thank you very much for that.
When it came time to sign the portrait, he joked about signing as his longtime friend Brad Pitt.
George Clooney collaborated with his partner Grant Heslov on the script and production, took charge as director, served as a producer, and played a role in the 2005 film “Good Night, and Good Luck”.
The movie depicted the struggle between renowned journalist Edward R. Murrow, played by David Strathairn, and the Red Scare spearheaded by Senator Joseph McCarthy from Wisconsin, while George Clooney took on the role of producer Fred W. Friendly.
The movie raked in an impressive $54.6 million on a minimal budget of only $7 million, and it even received six Oscar nominations, including those for Best Picture, Best Actor (Strathairn), and Best Director (Clooney).
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve revisited the project to pen the stage adaptation, and this time around, I’ll be stepping into the shoes of the iconic Edward R. Murrow for my Broadway debut. It’s an honor to bring his story to life on the stage!
In response to CBS asking why he didn’t portray Murrow in the initial movie, Clooney explained, “At age 42, I lacked the weight or seriousness required to convincingly play Murrow, as he possessed a presence that I wasn’t capable of replicating at that time.

Clooney and Heslov initially made the movie as a reaction to the U.S.’s involvement in the Iraq War, and they have since revisited this tale to reflect it against the backdrop of Donald Trump’s presidency.
Clooney mentioned that he felt it was appropriate to discuss instances where the media checks the government’s actions.
Heslov remarked, “Initially, it wasn’t meant for today, but rather some other day. However, this is a tale that endures the passage of time. I believe it’s a narrative that can be retold repeatedly. I don’t think its themes will ever lose relevance.
Clooney emphasized, “The pursuit of journalism and revealing truth to those in power resembles a battle. It doesn’t occur by chance. It necessitates individuals declaring, ‘We will tackle these stories, and you’ll have to confront us.’ And that’s the reality.
