George Clooney playfully complained that his twins are mischievous and tease him in Italian, a language he doesn’t understand, calling them ‘rotten to the core‘.
The 64-year-old actor and his wife, 47-year-old human rights lawyer Amal, have eight-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander. The children are fluent in several languages.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill, George shared that he feels foolish while his family finds his behavior amusing.
He mentioned they’re also fluent in French. He added that English isn’t his first language, so he already struggles with it.
People often make fun of me right to my face, and I’m left confused, asking them to repeat what they said or explain what they mean.
‘And my wife understands and the rest of the family gets it and I just sit there like an idiot.’

Jimmy asked: ‘Are they bullying you George? Do you need me to step in here?’
George jokingly said that having children reveals a surprising truth: despite their small size, they can be mischievous and even overwhelming. He described them as ‘rotten to the core’ and capable of really testing your limits.
‘In fact, just be careful. Maybe just try renting one for a week.’
Oh my gosh, did you hear what George said?! It just melted my heart! He basically said he waited to have kids, Ella and Alexander, so he could actually be there for them, to really spend time with them. It’s just…so sweet and tells you everything about what a dedicated dad he is! I knew it, I knew he was a family man!
In a recent interview, the actor discussed the challenges of juggling family and career, especially when first starting out in the industry.
He told The Times that many people starting their careers have to give up time with their families in order to earn a living.
Honestly, when he said that, it just hit me. He was talking about how lucky he felt, being able to really be there for his kids because he had them later in life. But then he admitted how tough it must be for younger parents – juggling everything with little ones when you’re just starting out? Ugh, he gets it. It just felt so real and relatable, and honestly, a little heartbreaking knowing how hard it is for so many.
Now that he’s gained experience, financial stability, and age, he has the freedom to choose projects carefully. When he was starting out, he didn’t have that luxury and had to take whatever came his way.

He fondly recalled getting the part in ‘Batman & Robin’ back in 1997. He said he immediately called his friends and they all excitedly cheered, because at that point in his career, he’d only made one movie for a major studio, and it felt like a big opportunity.
‘Of course, we did not understand then that it was going to be a terrible movie.’
Even though George is a major movie star, he recently shared that he and his family have traded the Hollywood lifestyle for a quiet life on a farm in France.
George said that now his kids are having a ‘much better life’ growing up out of the spotlight.
