George Clooney gives a rare insight into family life with his twins as he admits he ‘had kids late so I could spend time with them’

George Clooney recently shared a personal glimpse into raising his twins, explaining that he chose to become a father later in life so he could fully dedicate his time to them.

The 64-year-old actor recently discussed the challenges of juggling family life and career goals, especially when first starting out in the industry.

George and his wife, Amal, a human rights lawyer, have twins named Ella and Alexander, who were born in June 2017.

He told The Times that many people have to prioritize work over family time when they’re beginning their careers.

He continued, explaining that it was simpler for him personally because he had children later in life, allowing him to dedicate more time to them. However, he acknowledged that raising a family when you’re young presents significant challenges.

You know, as I’ve grown in my career and become more financially stable, I’ve really been able to choose projects that truly excite me. When you’re starting out, you often have to take what you can get – it’s just different when you have a little more control and can be selective about where you invest your time and energy.

He fondly recalled getting the part in ‘Batman & Robin’ back in 1997. He said he immediately called his friends and they all excitedly celebrated, because at that point in his career, it felt like a major opportunity – his first big studio film.

‘Of course, we did not understand then that it was going to be a terrible movie.’

Even though George is a major movie star, he recently shared that he and his family have traded the excitement of Los Angeles for a quieter life on a farm in France.

George said that now his kids are having a ‘much better life’ growing up out of the spotlight.

He told Esquire magazine: ‘I was worried about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood.

‘I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life.’

Actor Jay Kelly noted a significant cultural difference between France and the US, stating that the French generally aren’t impressed by celebrity status.

He added: ‘I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.’

George doesn’t use social media himself, avoiding platforms like Instagram and Facebook. However, he’s concerned about the potential impact on his children when they eventually start using these sites.

He recently explained to Julia Roberts in an interview with 72 Magazine that the potential downsides are far greater now, and those consequences can last a long time.

‘I’m worried about my kids; we keep them off the internet as much as we can.

‘But, you know, some of their homework is done on a computer.’

George and Amal Clooney clearly enjoy a very luxurious lifestyle, with a combined net worth of around $550 million (about £409 million).

Despite being a huge star and owning properties all over the globe, he claims he lives a normal life.

After his Broadway hit, Good Night, and Good Luck, the 64-year-old is now starring in a new film called Jay Kelly. Interestingly, his character in the movie is a famous movie actor.

At the New York Film Festival premiere, DailyMail.com asked the actor if he, like his character, wished for a more normal life. He confirmed that he does, and that he actually has ‘normalcy’ in his life.

He emphasized that he lives a normal life, like driving his kids to school each day. However, he added, ‘Everything is normal except for this one thing!’

He acknowledged that he lives a rather privileged life, and he makes an effort to protect his eight-year-old twins with Amal from knowing about it.

He said they didn’t visit the filming location often, only a couple of times. He prefers to keep his children away from that kind of environment for the time being.

‘I’m not quite sure what they would think about it. I don’t want them to think we’re too pampered.’
