George and Amal Clooney look smitten as they hold hands on a romantic weekend break in the South of France

George and Amal Clooney appeared deeply in love while enjoying a romantic weekend trip in the South of France, walking hand-in-hand.

The 64-year-old actor and his 47-year-old lawyer wife were seen holding hands and looking happy together as they walked in the sun.

After a fancy dinner at Restaurant La Magdeleine, the couple drove about an hour to Chateau du Canadel, a family-owned organic vineyard, from their nearby home.

George seemed cheerful and relaxed while driving his expensive £400,000 Aston Martin Vanquish and talking with Amal.

The actor, known for Ocean’s Eleven, looked sharp in a navy jacket paired with a matching T-shirt and pants.

He stayed comfortable in tan suede slip-on shoes while Amal bundled up in a fashionable long green coat.

She looked amazing in a short, white sweater dress, paired with a winter coat, tights, and high ankle boots.

Amal carried her things in a brown handbag and completed her look with sparkly drop earrings and sunglasses.

The couple seemed incredibly happy, chatting and holding hands as they walked back to their car.

In July 2021, George and his family traded the excitement of Los Angeles for a quiet life in a large country home near Cotignac, France, leaving behind the Hollywood lifestyle.

It took more than a year to renovate the house to their liking, but they moved in during 2022 and are now happily settled.

They often dine at the Jardin Secret restaurant in Cotignac, savoring the food prepared by chef Benoit Witz, a former protégé of the renowned Alain Ducasse.

It turns out George has fully immersed himself in the local culture by starting to make wine.

He’s sending the grapes from his small, four-hectare vineyard to a local wine cooperative called Les Vignerons de Correns, where they’ll be turned into rosé wine.

Twenty years ago, wine expert Laurence Berlemont first planted the Vermentino grapevines on George Clooney’s property.

She explained that she grows produce for George Clooney, and he’s been involved in creating a few different flavor combinations. He provides feedback, and she notes he has a refined taste and is very down-to-earth and receptive to suggestions.

The wines produced are a white Cote Varois and a rosé, called Ferme Saint-Georges.

George recently shared that his children are happier growing up away from public attention.

He told Esquire magazine: ‘I was worried about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood.

‘I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life.’

Actor Jay Kelly noted a significant cultural difference between France and the US, stating that the French generally aren’t impressed by celebrity status.

He added: ‘I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.’

George doesn’t use social media himself, avoiding platforms like Instagram and Facebook. However, he’s concerned about the potential impact on his children when they eventually start using them.

He recently shared with Julia Roberts in 72 Magazine that the stakes are much higher now, and the repercussions last a lot longer.

‘I’m worried about my kids; we keep them off the internet as much as we can.

‘But, you know, some of their homework is done on a computer.’

George and Amal Clooney clearly enjoy a lavish lifestyle, with a combined net worth of around $550 million (about £409 million).

Despite being a huge celebrity with homes in many countries, he claims to live a normal life.

After his Broadway hit, Good Night, and Good Luck, the 64-year-old is now starring in a new film called Jay Kelly, playing – fittingly – a famous movie actor.

At the New York Film Festival premiere, DailyMail.com asked the actor if he, like his character, longed for a normal life. He confirmed that he does, and that he actually has ‘normalcy’ in his own life.

He emphasized that he lives a normal life, like driving his kids to school each day. However, he added that everything is disrupted by ‘this’ – whatever situation he’s currently facing.

He acknowledged that he lives a fairly privileged life, and he attempts to protect his eight-year-old twins from knowing that.

He said they didn’t visit the filming location often, maybe just a couple of times. He prefers to shield his children from that kind of environment for now.

‘I’m not quite sure what they would think about it. I don’t want them to think we’re too pampered.’

George’s house on Lake Como, which he bought in 2002, appears to be used less often now, likely because of his strong connection to France. It’s now more of a vacation home than a primary residence.

Last year, rumors circulated that George Clooney was selling his villa on Lake Como, but he quickly dismissed them, stating he knew nothing about it.

It seems the family has moved to France for good, and they’ll likely only visit Como when it gets extremely hot in Provence during August.
