Honestly, I can’t believe the hate Gaz is getting! Like, yes, he left Geordie Shore years ago to focus on being a dad, which is amazing, but now he’s back and people are acting like it’s the end of the world! It’s Gaz! He is Geordie Shore! I’m so excited to have him back, and it’s ridiculous that people are trying to tear him down for wanting to do the show again after becoming a father. He can do both, and I’m here for it!
A TikTok user criticized the 37-year-old reality TV personality, originally from Newcastle, on Monday, calling him ’embarrassing’ and saying he seemed broke for coming back to the show. The show, filmed in Portugal, also featured returning cast members Sophie Kasaei and Chloe Ferry.
In response, Gary Beadle, a father of two who goes by ‘Gaz,’ pointed to the careers of footballers Thierry Henry and Micah Richards as examples of successful transitions into roles as football commentators and television personalities.
He wondered if Henry’s financial situation was due to his work as a football commentator or Micah Richards’ TV commercials. He then stated that any opportunity to earn money is worth taking, even something like getting paid to go on vacation with friends. He emphasized that he’d definitely take the chance, saying it just adds to his income.
He explained to The Sun that he had many discussions with the show’s producers before deciding to return, wanting to be certain it was a good fit for him.
After talking things over, I decided I wasn’t going to portray a character who drinks heavily every night. That’s just not something I do in my own life, and I didn’t want to do it for this role either.
He explained that seeing how much the show had evolved, combined with his children growing up, led him to decide to return.
Gaz first became well-known on the first season of Geordie Shore in 2011 and stayed on the show until 2017. He later appeared on the spin-off series, Geordie OGs, in 2019.
His relationship with Charlotte Crosby was the main focus of his time on the show. Their romance was complicated by his infidelity, and he wasn’t there for her when she tragically experienced an ectopic pregnancy in 2016 while he was filming Ex On The Beach in Thailand.
He left the show when he found out his girlfriend, Emma McVey, was pregnant with their first child. They now have two children, Chester, age seven, and Primrose, age four, and were married in July 2021. Unfortunately, they separated two years later.
Gaz is currently dating Maia Ellen, a 24-year-old nurse. They began publicly dating in 2024, and he credits her with helping him cope after his breakup with Emma, describing her as ‘inspirational’.
Now that he’s in a relationship, Gaz’s experience on Geordie Shore will be quite different from how it used to be. He was once known for having many flings on the show, which was famous for its partying, drinking, and fighting.
Reflecting on his original departure, Gaz explained that he joined the show at 21 and left at 30, meaning a decade of his life was spent being filmed, active on social media, and in the public spotlight.
When the lockdown started, I really wished I could have a couple of years to just disappear from public view and not be filmed or followed.
I recall them announcing a reunion, and my immediate thought was that I didn’t want to participate. It wasn’t a problem with Geordie Shore itself, I was simply happy with how things were.
