This guide will show you strategies to defeat the bosses and claim all the rewards.
Genshin Impact 6.2 Stygian Onslaught Guide: Boss Mechanism
Look, I’ve learned the hard way that just having the best gear isn’t enough. You absolutely have to figure out how each boss works – what triggers their attacks, their weaknesses, everything. Seriously, even with fully upgraded weapons and perfect artifacts, you’re going down if you don’t understand the mechanics. It’s all about learning the patterns!
1. Iniquitous Baptist Boss Mechanism
Iniquitous Baptist is a boss found in the Sumeru Desert. The fight begins with the boss creating three elemental pillars that you must quickly destroy. If you fail to destroy these pillars within the time limit, the boss will gain a shield powered by those same elements.

This boss usually protects itself with Cryo, Hydro, Electro, and Pyro shields, but during the Stygian Onslaught event, it only uses Hydro, Electro, and Pyro. To break the Hydro shield, use Cryo or Dendro attacks. The Electro shield is also weak to Cryo and Dendro. Use Hydro attacks to destroy the Pyro shields. Once all the shields are down, you can then effectively attack the boss with your main damage-dealing characters.
2. Battle Hardened Iktomisaurus Boss Mechanism
Iktomisaurus is a well-known boss from Natlan. It’s much easier to figure out than the Iniquitous Baptist Boss. Players who prefer close combat will struggle, as Iktomisaurus creates a Cryo shield while floating and can only be damaged by quickly breaking the shield with long-range Pyro attacks.

If you destroy the boss’s shield quickly enough, it will fall, taking significant damage and becoming stunned briefly. However, if you fail to break the shield in time, the boss will unleash a devastating area-of-effect attack that will instantly defeat your active character.
3. Experimental Field Generator Boss Mechanism
The Experimental Field Generator is a boss found in the Fontaine region. It lowers gravity in the area around it, allowing all characters to plunge attack simply by pressing the jump button. When characters reach a certain height while plunging, they receive a 600% attack boost that lasts for 1.5 seconds.

Okay, so this boss is tough. It fires a bunch of projectiles that can one-shot my characters, which is super annoying! Luckily, I can dodge them by either jumping or running. And there’s more – it also sends out these ground waves that knock my characters back and hurt them, but thankfully, jumping also works to avoid those! It’s all about timing those jumps, really.
Genshin Impact 6.2 Stygian Onslaught Guide: Best Teams
This section covers effective team compositions for each boss fight, along with quick tips on how to use your character to counter the boss’s unique abilities. If you’re not familiar with what each character does in a team, you can find detailed role explanations on our website.
1. Iniquitous Baptist
| Teams | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nefer PremiumTeam | Nefer | Lauma | Nahida/Yelan | Aino |
| Skirk Premium Team | Skirk | Escoffier | Yelan/Shenhe | Furina |
1. Nefer Premium Team
The Nefer Premium team is very effective at dealing damage, so we’ll use the same strategy when fighting the bosses. Use Nefer and Lauma to quickly break the bosses’ Hydro and Electro shields. Then, use Yelan or Aino to apply Hydro, which will help break Pyro shields and destroy the Pillars.
2. Skirk Premium Team
Skirk’s strongest team can easily defeat this boss. Use Cryo attacks to remove the Electro shield and Hydro attacks to remove the Pyro shield. Once those are down, simply use your regular team strategy.

2. Battle Hardened Iktomisaurus
| Teams | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pyro Swirl Team | Venti | Durin | Faruzan | Bennett |
| Chasca Team | Chasca | Mauvika/Durin | Citlali | Bennett/Healer/ Buffer |
| Jean Fall Damage Team | Jean | Zhongli | Amber | Bennett |
1. Pyro Swirl Team
This team works best for this boss fight. Start by using Durin Burst, and when the boss floats into the air, use Venti Burst. This will create a Pyro Swirl that quickly breaks the boss’s Cryo shield. After that, just stick to your usual team attack order.
2. Chasca Team
Start by using either Durin Burst or Mauvika’s skill. Then, use Chasca and fly towards the boss – this will trigger Mauvika’s skill to break the boss’s Cryo shield. After that, continue with your usual Chasca skill sequence.
3. Jean Fall Damage Team
The main characters for this strategy are Jean and Amber. When the boss begins to float, use Jean’s ultimate ability. When the boss creates an ice shield, use Amber’s ultimate to shatter it, then immediately use Bennett’s ultimate. This will stun the boss briefly, allowing you to continuously damage it with Jean’s charged attack until the stun wears off.

Follow this same rotation when the boss creates its shield.
3. Experimental Field Generator
| Teams | Character 1 | Character 2 | Character 3 | Character 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Varesa Overload Team | Varesa | Durin/Mauvika | Cheevruse | Iansan |
| Xiao Premium Team | Xiao | Xianyun | Faruzan | Furina/Durin |
| Diluc Premium Team | Diluc | Xianyun | Citlali | Bennett |
Varesa Overload Team, Xiao Premium Team, and Diluc Premium Team
This boss is straightforward – simply avoid its attacks, like the projectiles and waves it sends across the ground. Stick to your team’s planned strategy, and you’ll be able to beat it easily.
