New Archon Quest: The Traveler Twins’ Paths Cross Again
If, like me, you’ve been keeping up with the story since Mondstadt, you might have let out a small yelp when the “Bedtime Story” quest appeared. The intrigue deepens as we delve further into the conflict between the Traveler and their Sibling.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a thrill running down my spine as the Abyss Order stirs in Natlan. The prospect of witnessing Dainsleif like never before has me intrigued, especially since it seems we’ll be delving deeper into Genshin Impact’s lore, focusing on its darker and more emotional aspects. The possibility of uncovering secrets about the siblings’ plan sends shivers up my spine – I can hardly wait to see what lies ahead!
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Events
New Permanent Combat Mode: Stygian Onslaught

Out of all parts, this one excited me the most. The new permanent combat mode, named Stygian Onslaught, is what really got my adrenaline pumping. It features a rotation of bosses and six levels of difficulty to challenge players. Rewards for conquering these challenges include an innovative item called Dust of Enlightenment that allows you to reroll substats on Level 20 Artifacts!
Flagship Limited Event: Sumeru’s Simulated Game Mode
Additionally, we’re looking forward to a fresh, strategically engaging experience coming from the Sumeru Akademiya, which they’ve labeled a “simulated adventure event.” This event seems tailor-made for tactical enthusiasts! You’ll have the opportunity to assemble a team using “Companion Pieces,” enhance their abilities, and navigate either a lush rainforest or arid desert landscape. To add an extra layer of excitement, there’s a touch of randomness involved, offering a welcome deviation from typical event formats. Plus, if you successfully complete the event, you’ll receive Sethos as a complimentary reward!
Mini Events: Lighthearted Stories in “Travelers’ Tales”
To maintain a harmonious mix of drama and tranquility within the main narrative, we’re additionally offering heartwarming vignettes from various locations in Teyvat. For instance, Thoma has returned to Mondstadt, Neuvillette is paying a visit to Merusea Village, and Dori attempts to negotiate with Sayu (I suspect this results in some amusing confusion). These casual anecdotes serve as delightful moments of respite, making the interludes between conflicts more enjoyable.
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Update: New playable characters and reruns
Skirk: 5-Star Cryo Sword
After what felt like an eternity of rumors, I, a seasoned gamer, am finally getting my hands on Skirk, the enigmatic mentor of Childe, as a playable 5-star Cryo character. This character is steeped in Abyss lore and has been trained under Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s notorious Five Sinners. Skirk offers a distinct dual-combat style that promises to shake up the battlefield.

Her skills primarily focus on the special resource known as Serpent’s Subtlety. This unique resource, derived from her skills and talents, enables her to alternate between strong Normal Attacks for continuous damage and massive AoE Cryo damage through her Elemental Burst. Interestingly, Skirk’s gameplay mechanics diverge from the conventional Elemental Energy system, making her distinct among other characters.
Furthermore, Skirk provides a beneficial collaboration for squads containing Hydro and Cryo characters. This alliance elevates the Elemental Skills of these characters by one level and increases her own damage output substantially.
Dahlia: 4-Star Hydro Sword

Dahlia has recently signed up with Skirk, bringing in a fresh 4-star Hydro support character, who doubles as the Deacon of the Church of Favonius. This multi-talented character offers diverse support through his Elemental Burst, which can be reactivated by regular attacks or Freeze reactions, providing a continuous shield. Additionally, Dahlia’s abilities enhance teammates’ attack speed and his Elemental Skill either propels allies into the air or inflicts Hydro damage on enemies.
Re-runs and Chronicled Wish
In the initial part of Version 5.7’s Event Wishes, characters like Skirk, Dahlia, and Shenhe make their appearance. On the other hand, the second half offers repeat performances for Mavuika and Emilie.
Final Thoughts
Version 5.7 update brings back the excitement that initially drew me to Genshin. The arrival of Skirk, more in-depth sibling backgrounds, and the long-desired artifact re-rolling feature cater to various preferences. Whether you’re drawn by the narrative, combat, or overall atmosphere, there’s something for everyone. I can’t wait to jump back in on June 18th!
