New Archon Quest: The Traveler Twins’ Paths Cross Again

If you’re similar to me and have been keeping up with the storyline since Mondstadt, you likely let out a small yelp when the “Bedtime Story” quest appeared. The intrigue deepens as we delve further into the narrative involving the Traveler vs. Sibling. The Abyss Order seems to be active in Natlan, and it appears that we’ll get a unique look at Dainsleif in this storyline. I’ve always been fascinated by the darker, more emotional aspects of Genshin Impact’s lore, and this update promises some significant revelations. The prospect of discovering secrets about the sibling’s plan sends a shiver down my spine.

Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Events

New Permanent Combat Mode: Stygian Onslaught

Of all the parts, this one excited me the most. The new combat mode called Stygian Onslaught is a permanent feature with rotating bosses and six levels of difficulty. As for the rewards, you can look forward to a novel item named Dust of Enlightenment that allows you to reroll substats on Level 20 Artifacts!

Flagship Limited Event: Sumeru’s Simulated Game Mode

Additionally, we’re looking forward to experiencing a novel simulated expedition event straight from the Sumeru Akademiya, and it seems like a tactician’s paradise! In this event, you assemble a squad using “Companion Pieces,” enhance their abilities, and decide whether to traverse a lush rainforest or arid desert map. The inclusion of some random elements adds an exciting twist, offering a refreshing deviation from conventional event structures. Moreover, clearing the event will net you the free reward of Sethos.

Mini Events: Lighthearted Stories in “Travelers’ Tales”

To maintain a harmonious blend of drama and relaxation, we’re adding charming vignettes from various locations in Teyvat to our main narrative. For instance, Thoma has returned to Mondstadt, Neuvillette is paying a visit to Merusea Village, and Dori is attempting to bargain with Sayu, which I suspect will result in some chaos. These brief, everyday tales provide a delightful respite, making the periods of combat more bearable.

Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Update: New playable characters and reruns

Skirk: 5-Star Cryo Sword

Following decades of intrigue, the enigmatic figure known as Skirk, who was once associated with Childe, has now taken center stage as a 5-star playable Cryo character. Famed for her strong connections to the Abyss and apprenticeship under Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s notorious Five Sinners, Skirk introduces a distinctive dual-combat strategy to the battlefield.

Her skills and talents yield a special resource known as Serpent’s Subtlety. With this, she can switch between strong continuous damage with Normal Attacks and massive area-of-effect Cryo damage through her Elemental Burst. What makes Skirk stand out is that she doesn’t use conventional Elemental Energy like other characters do.

Additionally, Skirk provides a beneficial teamwork advantage when grouped with characters from both the Hydro and Cryo elements. This collaboration enhances their Elemental Abilities by one level and increases her own damaging potential substantially.

Dahlia: 4-Star Hydro Sword

Dahlia has recently signed up with Skirk, bringing in a fresh addition as a four-star Hydro support character and serving as the Deacon of the Church of Favonius. This newcomer offers flexible assistance through his Elemental Burst’s regenerative shield, which can be retriggered by standard attacks or Freeze reactions. Furthermore, Dahlia’s abilities enhance teammates’ attack speed, and his Elemental Skill can either lift allies into the air or inflict Hydro damage on enemies.

Re-runs and Chronicled Wish

In the initial part of update 5.7’s Event Wishes, we have characters like Skirk, Dahlia, and Shenhe making an appearance. The second half of this update, however, will feature reruns for Mavuika and Emilie.

Or,

At the start of Version 5.7’s Event Wishes, you’ll see Skirk, Dahlia, and Shenhe. Towards the end, there will be repeat performances of Mavuika and Emilie.

Final Thoughts

Update 5.7 of Genshin Impact revives the reasons I initially fell for this game. With Skirk’s long-anticipated introduction, a deeper exploration into sibling backstories, and the much-desired artifact re-rolling feature (at last!), there’s something enticing for every player. Be it the story, the combat, or simply the atmosphere – I can’t wait to immerse myself come June 18th!
