Released in September 2020, Genshin Impact has become incredibly popular. While many players are now experienced and have progressed far in the game, newcomers might find it challenging to get started. With so much content available, especially when trying to collect Primogems for new characters, it can be overwhelming. This guide offers tips and tricks to help beginners quickly and efficiently farm free Primogems in Genshin Impact.

The easiest ways for beginners to earn free Primogems in Genshin Impact

1. Achievements 

At the beginning of the game, players will unlock lots of achievements by doing things like cooking a meal or defeating enemies. These early achievements are designed to be simple to earn as you play through the story and explore the world.

The game currently features over 1000 achievements. Players can find a complete list, along with instructions on how to unlock them, in the Achievements section of the main menu. The majority of achievements reward players with 5 Primogems, though some offer 10 to 20. Many of these achievements are relatively easy to complete.

2. World Quests

As you explore different areas of the game, you’ll discover World Quests. These quests come in various forms. Many involve helping characters with their problems through short stories, while others require you to explore and complete a series of tasks.

Genshin Impact currently features six major regions: Inazuma, Liyue, Mondstadt, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Nod Krai. The World Quests in Inazuma and Sumeru are particularly story-driven and take more time to finish, but completing all World Quests across these regions rewards players with Primogems.

3. Adventure Ranks

Players can quickly gain levels in the game through a system called Adventurer Rank. By exploring and completing quests – like Story, Archon, and even World Quests – players earn Player EXP. Each time a player levels up, they receive rewards.

You’ll earn rewards like Intertwined Fates and Acquaint Fates, plus Primogems as you play. New players can increase their Adventure Rank quickly at the beginning of the game. It takes less Player EXP to reach Level 55 than it does to go from Adventure Rank 55 to 60.

4. Adventurer’s Handbook

When you first start playing, you’ll find the Adventurer’s Handbook. It’s a helpful guide with important information like details on Commissions, the locations of Domains and Bosses, and an Experience section. Within the Experience section, you’ll find Investigation Progress – a system similar to Achievements where you complete objectives listed in the Handbook to progress through different Chapters.

After you finish all the goals in a Chapter, you’ll receive rewards, including Primogems. There are currently seven Chapters available, and many players who started playing early have already completed the first four.

5. Exploration

Genshin Impact currently features several major regions for players to explore, including Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Nod Krai. These areas also include smaller sub-regions like the Chasm and Enkanomiya. Exploring the world is a great way to earn Primogems.

  • Players can unlock Teleport Waypoints and Statue of the Seven where they will be granted 5 to 10 Primogems each.
  • Opening Chests can grant Primogems. The Chests in Mondstadt and Liyue are Common Chest: 0 Primogems, Exquisite Chest: 2, Precious Chest: 5, Luxurious Chest: 10. Starting from Inazuma and Sumeru the Chests grant: Common Chest: 2 Primogems, Exquisite Chest: 5, Precious Chest: 10, Luxurious Chest: 10, Remarkable Chests: 5 Primogems.
  • Unlocking the Shrines with the Shrine of Depth keys gives 40 Primogems each.
  • Collecting Anemoculus, Geoculus, Electroculus, and Dendroculus, and then offering them to their respective Statue of the seven regions can level up the Statues and hence grant various rewards including Primogems. Around 60 Primogems can be gotten by each Level Up.
  • There are also many offering trees around the regions such as the Frostbearing Tree’s Gratitude, Sacred Sakura’s Favor, and Vanarana’s Favor where they offer rewards as you Level them up by collecting Sigils.
