The Surging Storm event in Genshin Impact was unveiled during the Version 5.2 Update. This thrilling event is essentially a strategic war game where you aid the Knights of Favonius in devising battle strategies. By conquering tasks, you can reap various rewards such as Primogems, Hero’s Wit, Character Talent Materials, and more. This guide offers insights on how to access the Event, its mechanics, release dates, and prizes.
The event is scheduled from December 18th, 2024 at 8:00 UTC to December 30th, 2024 at 1:59 UTC. Participants must have an Adventure Rank of 20 or higher and must have completed the Archon Quest Prologue: Act III, Song of the Dragon, and Freedom.

Here’s how you can dominate the wargame in three phases: Preparation, Combat, and Finalization
Phase 1: Preparation
Choose Your Battle Tactics: Tactics provide unique advantages to your team and can significantly impact the course of combat. You will receive a new tactic at Rounds 1, 3, 5, and 7. These tactics may enhance the strength of your fighting units or activate potent effects such as shockwaves.
Select Combat Units: Choose the right team for your battles. Units come in three classes:
- Normal: Basic units with lower strength.
- Elite: Stronger units with higher initial levels.
- Apex: The strongest units available.
Organize Your Team Formations: Adjust the positions of your team members to effectively respond to your adversary’s setup. Analyze the enemy’s combat units and sequence of moves to tailor your tactics accordingly.
Phase 2: Combat
- Automatic Battles: The combat happens automatically after you set up your lineup. Units will enter the battlefield in order, and both sides will fight until the round ends.
- Rank Up Units: Combine two units of the same rank to create a higher-ranked unit (up to Rank 3). Higher ranks mean stronger Combat Units, so prioritize fusing units when possible.
Phase 3: Finalization
After the conclusion of every round, you progress to the next one. The war game terminates once you’ve finished all ten rounds or have lost four times.

- Build Synergy: Choose Stratagems and Combat Units that work well together. The more your lineup complements each other, the stronger your team becomes.
- Know the Enemy: Before each round, analyze the enemy’s lineup to adjust your own. Deploy units with counter advantages to gain the upper hand.
- Plan Your Stratagems: Use Stratagems strategically in tougher rounds to maximize their impact.
- Be Careful with Losses: You can only lose up to 4 rounds before the wargame ends, so plan carefully and try to avoid unnecessary risks.
