On Saturday, it was shared with TMZ by a family member of the 87-year-old actor that he plans to mention his “Unforgiven” co-star during a dedicated portion in the in memoriam segment.

In 1992, Freeman and Gene collaborated in a timeless film that brought the late actor his second Academy Award. Eight years after that, they teamed up again for the 2000 thriller, Under Suspicion – one of his last films before he retired from Hollywood in 2004.

The source claimed that the late actor’s family will not attend the ceremony. 

The remains of Gene and his spouse, Betsy Arakawa, who appeared to have undergone a natural process similar to mummification, were discovered by two maintenance staff members on a Wednesday at their luxurious $3.3 million home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

According to reports, the couple was discovered showing symptoms of bloating on their faces and signs suggesting mummification in their limbs, with pills scattered close by. One of their three German Shepherds was sadly dead, while the other two dogs were wandering about the premises.

The official’s search warrant states that the deaths of the two individuals appear suspicious enough to necessitate a comprehensive search and examination.

Last Friday, Santa Fe authorities suggested that the latest activity detected in Gene’s pacemaker data occurred on February 17, which has led investigators to suspect that this might have been the day he passed away.

Pending further toxicology results, the medical examiner has verified that neither individual showed signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. The local Sheriff’s Department currently thinks there’s no evidence suggesting foul play was involved.

For nearly two decades, the actor who starred in “The French Connection” and was worth around $80 million, stayed out of the public eye. After leaving the entertainment industry in 2004, he abandoned the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for a tranquil life in New Mexico, where he had resided until his death.

In an interview with CNN in 2004 that feels chilling now, the departed actor admitted his fear of dying because he wished to always support his loved ones financially.

He shared that he focuses on self-care, adding that his fears are generally typical – he worries about mortality.

As we advance in years, it becomes a common concern for most of us to ensure the well-being of our loved ones, particularly our spouse and family. Beyond that aspect, I don’t harbor many worries.

In his past marriage, the man who portrayed Superman was blessed with three kids: Christopher Allen (age 65), Elizabeth Jean (age 63), and Leslie Anne (age 58).

At the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the 97th Annual Film Awards will celebrate the finest movies from 2024, featuring a glamorous event filled with A-list celebrities.

61-year-old Conan O’Brien will be hosting the Oscars for the first time. He jokingly admitted he accepted the role just to receive an invitation.

2021’s award show features an uncommon level of uncertainty across numerous major categories such as Best Picture and the majority of the acting awards.
