Gemma Whelan addresses ITV show’s future ahead of season 3

As a dedicated fan of gripping police dramas, I eagerly anticipate the upcoming seasons of “The Tower.” Having binge-watched both seasons to date, I can confidently say that Gemma Whelan‘s portrayal of DS Sarah Collins is nothing short of captivating. The way she brings life to the character and the intricate stories woven around her are truly a sight to behold.

Gemma Whelan has addressed the future of The Tower as the series approaches its third season.

The ITV police drama is adapted from Kate London’s book series and features Whelan as DS Sarah Collins. Making its debut on our screens in 2021, “The Tower” resumed for a second season in 2023, titled “The Tower 2: Death’s Message.”

2023 saw the announcement of season three, which is inspired by London’s third book in the series. However, a specific release date hasn’t been set as of now. Yet, Whelan is actively preparing for the upcoming storyline.

When queried about a continuation for season four, the actress gleamed with excitement. “Absolutely!” she responded to The Mirror. “I believe everyone is eager – we’re all eager; I’m attempting to convey all my anticipation to ITV and everyone else to watch.”

Her excitement was matched by writer and executive producer Patrick Harbinson, who revealed he was already making plans for the next instalment.

As a game enthusiast, I can’t wait to kick off the script for the inaugural chapter of “The Tower.” Just four episodes to start with, mind you, but it’s all about demonstrating our readiness to leap into this exciting adventure! And let me tell you, I’m eager as ever to explore more of the captivating story that lies ahead.

Meanwhile, Harbinson has already promised big things for the upcoming season of The Tower.

In the third season, titled “The Tower 3: Gallowstree Lane, “, we will witness the comeback of Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins (Whelan), Police Constable Lizzie Adama (Tahirah Sharif), Detective Constable Steve Bradshaw (Jimmy Akingbola), and Detective Inspector Kieran Shaw (Emmett J Scanlan).

Harbinson expressed his excitement about shooting a third season of “The Tower“. The narrative for “Gallowstree Lane” revolves around a tense drugs and gangs plot, with significant roles for Jimmy and Emmett. Moreover, Sarah and Lizzie’s stories are both intense and emotional as the Portland Tower drama reaches its climax. I am convinced that series three will surpass all its predecessors in quality.

You can catch The Tower on ITVX right now, but unfortunately, we don’t have a confirmed release date for the third series yet.
