Gemma Collins has asked her fans for prayers for her mother, Joan, who is currently in the hospital being treated for pneumonia and is very ill.
The 44-year-old former TOWIE star posted a sad photo of herself hugging her 81-year-old mother, who is currently in the hospital. She described it as the ‘hardest week of her life’.
Gemma shared a sad message alongside a photo, explaining that this week has been incredibly difficult. She said she felt lost and overwhelmed because her mother is seriously ill. She expressed her gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Broomfield Hospital and Chelmsford Hospital for their excellent care.
My mum is very unwell and having a difficult time. If you’re a person who believes in prayer, I would be so grateful if you could send a prayer for her recovery. Thank you to my close friends and family for your support, and to everyone who is praying or wishing her well – I really appreciate it.
Gemma added that the support from her friends and family has been wonderful, especially since her mom and she have always been big fans of Madonna. Listening to Madonna’s music is really helping her cope right now and giving her a boost.
Pneumonia is a lung infection that causes inflammation and fluid buildup in the small air sacs of your lungs, making breathing difficult.
Last year, Gemma received devastating news when her mother was hospitalized after suddenly stopping breathing, and doctors warned her mother’s life was in danger.
Speaking to The Sun, she said: ‘I’ve had a lot of stress the last couple of weeks.
My mother was unexpectedly hospitalized, and doctors warned me her condition was life-threatening. They explained they wouldn’t attempt to revive her if her heart stopped.
It was such a shock! One day I was out enjoying dinner, and the next thing I knew, I was in the hospital. It really came as a huge surprise, and honestly, it took me completely off guard.
Gemma revealed that Joan had been rushed to hospital and was in intensive care.
The TV star posted heartwarming photos with her mother online, revealing that Joan is currently quite sick.
Gemma shared a video on Instagram explaining that her mother is currently very ill and in intensive care. Gemma has previously discussed her mother’s health challenges.
It’s been a really difficult period, and while I’m glad things are improving, I’m very worried because my mother is currently in intensive care. Thankfully, she’s starting to recover.
Gemma later shared that she was terrified when her mother suddenly stopped breathing. She immediately called for an ambulance, and was warned her mother’s condition was critical. She was also asked if she wanted to attempt CPR.
She then reassured worried fans that Joan is now ‘stable’ and will ‘hopefully’ be much better soon.
Last August, Gemma posted a photo of her mother, who was hospitalized at Queens Hospital in Essex and required a breathing tube.
It was a frightening experience when my mom was hospitalized. I’m grateful to Queens Hospital Romford for the care they provide.
She posted another photo of her mother with a heartfelt message: ‘Cherish your parents while you can. A huge thank you to the team at Queen’s Hospital Romford for taking such good care of Mum (@joancollins1).’
The television personality is said to be earning over a million dollars before her expected return to the show, I’m A Celebrity All Stars.
I’m absolutely thrilled to hear Gemma is returning! It’s incredible – she famously walked out after just 72 hours last time, so I honestly didn’t expect her to give it another shot. I’m really excited to see what she does this time around.
She traveled to Australia in 2014, but only stayed for three days before returning to the UK.
According to a source, she didn’t enjoy her first experience on I’m A Celebrity, but believes returning for the All Stars season would be highly entertaining for her followers.
