Gemma Arterton reveals all her sex scenes are done with a 'love coach' in wake of #MeToo movement

As a lifestyle expert and someone who has closely observed the evolutions within the entertainment industry over the years, I wholeheartedly commend the strides being made towards creating safer and more empowering work environments, particularly for women. The experiences of Gemma Arterton, as shared in this article, serve as a stark reminder of the past and underscore the importance of the changes we are witnessing today.

Actress Gemma Arterton, known for her roles as Bond girls, has disclosed that she meticulously plans all her intimate scenes with the help of intimacy coordinators since the advent of the #MeToo movement. This way, the scenes are executed in a manner that ensures comfort and professionalism for everyone involved.

The 38-year-old actress emphasized the significant difference between her current and past roles, noting that as a younger performer, she had no control over whether or not she was required to perform intimate scenes.

Arterton, recognized for her role as the intelligence operative Strawberry Fields in the 2008 Bond film Quantum Of Solace, stated: ‘On one occasion, a sex scene was suddenly given to me. It was more like, ‘This is what will occur’, and I carried it out. Nowadays, such scenes would not take place without intimacy coordinators.’

‘I’m really pleased that we have intimacy co-ordinators now. It takes away the unknown.

It’s crystal clear without any room for confusion. While it may seem somewhat rigid at first, think of it as acquiring a new dialect, mastering a combat technique, or perfecting a dance routine. First, you need to go through the steps, then with practice, it becomes more fluid and natural.

The actress shared with Time Magazine that she remains cautious about the impact of filming intimate scenes on less experienced actors. On one occasion, she declined to participate in such a scene when she felt stronger and more self-assured.

“I’m concerned about the younger and less experienced actors since I’ve heard tales from my fellow actor friends who fear speaking up due to the risk of losing their jobs. Such a situation is truly disheartening.

She shared insights on how the movie business underwent transformation following the upsurge of the #MeToo campaign, empowering victims of sexual misconduct to speak out.

She mentioned: ‘On each call schedule, you’ll find a phone number for assistance in case you encounter any issues.’

This is entirely confidential, which is fantastic as it was lacking earlier. The transformation has been substantial. Rest assured, if any instances of bullying arise, there are avenues for reporting and support available.

Actress Arterton headlines the upcoming ITVX thriller, Culprits, set for release and streaming starting December 19.
