She mentioned she’s followed the Weight Watchers program on and off throughout her life and has successfully met their goals three times.

Gayle shared in March 2020 that she doesn’t particularly like exercising, but when she does, she prefers using the equipment at the gym.

‘I try to figure out a way to get some kind of exercise,’ she told ELLE at the time.

‘I’ve been reading this book about the joy of movement, and I do think there’s something to that.’

Gayle clarified that she doesn’t necessarily *enjoy* working out, but she does it anyway. She uses the treadmill, elliptical, and lifts weights, but doesn’t pretend it’s something she loves.

However, Gayle was disheartened to find she had gained thirteen pounds a few months into the COVID-19 pandemic.

She posted about her weight gain, expressing her frustration and worry. She wrote that she’s heavier than she’s been in a long time and is even anxious about getting a pedicure.

Gayle lost seven pounds by following a five-day soup-only diet. She did this because she wanted to fit into a specific dress for her election coverage work.

She announced on Instagram that she just finished a five-day soup fast and is hoping a mustard yellow dress will fit for her election night coverage. She added a prayer for the dress to fit, for people to vote, and for peace.
